  1. We have opened the forum for cyclists to leave their feedback, good or bad, and any suggestions where we can improve our service to all cyclists. so go register at www.forum.roadrangers.co.za
  2. Six13 and others. I received the call about the lady having an asthma attack. I was with the Elite riders and as I was closest (reports was that she was 7km's from the Finish) left the bunch and rushed to the area. On route, another Medic/Marshal also joined the search. We could not find the lady and only assumed she managed to continue and complete the race, and thankful it was not serious. Will relay the concern about the operator not knowing about the race with my Managers.
  3. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family & friends. RIP
  4. there are normally two groups, although they split again into fast & slower riders. The group that does the Lido loop only and a group that goes out farther for approx 80-100kms.
  5. forgot to mention.....ER24 also supplies an Ambulance that follows the groups as well...... the more organisations and initiatives looking after the cyclists, the BETTER!!
  6. This is incorrect. The Paramedics in the Lexus are no longer supplied by Helivac but are now supplied by ER24.
  7. I honestly don't think you can compare Shitmano with SRAM! SRAM is in a league of it's own and the video above just proves it!
  8. I fail to understand why the lack of policing is always mentioned. WE ARE ADULTS AND SHOULD BEHAVE ACCORDINGLY AND STOP BLAMING THE GOVERNMENT. The country has not changed because of the new Black Government. It has changed because so-called educated people just don't give a damn anymore!! Why must police authorities baby sit us? I will accept flaming!!
  9. this topic should read, '' Is our safety a priority with Event Organisers?'' I am referring to road events that do not have full road closure!
  10. Mechelle, if you travel these roads on a daily basis surely you would have seen the W309 cyclists warning signs that were erected in 2007.
  11. If anyone knows who the cyclist was please let me know. It is very sad and I pray that the LORD keeps all the cyclists safe whilst out riding. e-mail me shaun@sign-up.co.za or call me 0eight3 two 32 six 344 THANKS & BE SAFE!
  12. Sign-Up Cyclists Safety InitiativeER24 commits support to Cycling Safety in Jhb South. ER24 will provide a weekend Ambulance service to all the cyclists out Jhb South. This is in addition to the Paramedic provided by Helivac EMS and the Lexus Paramedic vehicle sponsored by Lexus The Glen. As there are short & long training routes out in the South it was important to have both these routes covered in case of an emergency. The cyclists safety are also ensured by the Helivac Motorcycle Marshals. These marshals keep the cyclists protected and assists with traffic flow.
  13. So the the fact that I propose that a group takes up an entire lane is wrong yet you say it is OK not to Stop at Stop Street!! bmmmmm......
  14. you see Eldron, your comment is "'I am going for a ride with my 10 mates"' makes motorists believe that we are only out there having fun whilst they are riding around working. It is not about cyclists having fun, these cyclists are fathers, mothers, children, grandfathers etc. it is about life and protecting it!! When I started Sign-Up I targeted motorists to get them to change their attitudes towards cyclists (your comment trying to make cycling safer for cyclists). Now four years down the line, I have to target the cyclists. The guys that don't stop at robots and and stop signs. That drive more than two abreast and swear at motorists but UNTIL the cyclists change their attitudes, they wont win an argument against the motorists. My idea above is about preserving life and it is my opinion! I will continue to try and save lives. What have you done about cyclists safety?
