Got a MTB but its quite a large bike. It has touring tyres on which are 28" and i want to put mountain biking tires on... do you get 28" MTB tyres or do i change my rim and resize....?

If it has 28"/700c wheels on it is a hybrid or 29er.  A number of companies make Cyclo cross (MTB type) tires that should work on a hybrid.  <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Theoretically 29er tires should fit.  You will have to check what the maximum width that your fork/frame can accommodate.

If your bike use rim brakes resizing will be difficult as you would have to find a way for them to line up with the new rim.
