Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. Today's paper is forecasting 34 degrees for Sunday, so it IS going to be hot one!! Good luck if you're also riding!

I hate laps too; actually I hate it so much I will rather be riding the road ride in Durbanville on Saturday. Embarrassed

I managed to locate my road bike in the garage this evening; had to wrestle the spiders for it though. LOL

Guess I am going to get dropped by my bunch not far from the start...

I did the 25km and really enjoyed it.  The climbs were hard enough to be challenging, but not too hard, and the singletrack was so much fun.  Its been a while since I've done any mountainbiking and this ride really made me realise what I've been missing.

Thanks to the organisers for a great ride.

Really awesome ride again this year. Thanks Geddan and the other organisers.

The extra climbing this year was well worth it for the extra singletrack through the forrest and the views!

Does anyone know if once can ride in the forestry areas at other times?

I only did the 15km and struggled a bit with the heat and the uphills (more hiking than biking) but loved the downhill especially through the woods near the river, it was great.

Does anyone know how the poor cyclist is that took the massive tumble at the finish ?

I did the ride also. Had fun. But hell - those hills!

I made contact with one of the local kids that did the ride in about the same time as myself. Got his contact details and all -

He is willing to lead us along the route.

The woods are open  for riding... haha, but the locals are normally a bit reluctant to tell you where the single track is.  Once I spent 3hours in those woods without finding it!  But after yesterday I wont forget! : )

It was a awesome ride.  I know that some are negative about the laps, but lets be honest here.  The race offers beautifull scenery and I for one did not mind that second lap at all.  Again, the climbing was a bit tough...I think more so for the shorter route riders.  But this is MOUNTAINbiking and what goes up must come down.

I hope that guy is ok who took that fall at the end!!!

I have the GPS track if anyone is interested. On Google Earth you can see that the forrest road carries on to the top of the pass.

I noticed that the singletrack had white dots on all the trees and I noticed some more white dots heading off from the dirt road where they had put up the danger sign next to the barbwire fence.

By the way... a MAJOR fire broke out in that forest last night.  People were still fire fighting at 11am today.  Judging from the pictures there wont be much mountainbiking there soon! Very sad indeed! : (
