Matching crank with BB

How do I know if a crank will match a BB. Or do they all fit together?

 

 

 

I have a entry level BB and crank and want to upgrade to a SLX crank. However, I don't know if I have to upgrade the BB as well.

 

 

 

Also, do BB's come in different sizes?

Get an SLX crank, or XT from Chris Willemse Cycles, they come with BB

Ff your entry level crank is not Hollowtech II then its BB will not work with SLX cranks. And like dean said, the new cranks come with BBs. And all BBs are the same size. You just use the spacers provided to fit BB shells that are different widths.

Yes BB(of the bike, the shell) come in basicly 2 sizes a 68mm and 73mm. Most mtb's have the 73mm bb shell

Most bbs can be fitted to these with a bit of tuning(spacers here and there)

 

I would say just by the new bb aswell, it will cost maybe R400 extra and you will be sure it fits. I know that some brands do not interchange e.g. Truvitiv will not fit Shimano?
