Help needed - How to solve disk brake rub

Recommended Posts

Posted

Yesterday I had a front wheel puncture and after reinserting the wheel back into the fork I now have the inside pad rubbing on the disk rotor.(Shimano BR-M486 brakes)

Normally I would reinsert the wheel and hold the brake lever tight before closing the quick release skewer so that the wheel is centered in the caliper but this does not help.

Any advise on solving this issue would be appreciated.

If it was fine and rubs after you have taken the wheel out, best bet is to tighten or loosen the QR to the same torque as before.

If you have already losened the caliper, your easiest option is to fold a business card over the rotor where the pads meet, grab the lever and tigten then - the business card help space the caliper.
