Knysna / George MTB Routes

Hey all,

I am on my way down to Knysna next week ( 3 Jan - 17 Jan 2010)

 

I changed a couple of settings on my MTB and I am doing Atta on the 16th.

 

I am thus looking for a descent MTB route no more than 2 hours riding time to test my MTB before the big day in or close to Knysna.

 

Can anyone inform me of some local routes I can give a bash please.

There's a small bike shop in Sedgefield that has a map with several

routes in the Karatara area that might be suitable.

 

Depending on where you stay, the Hoekwil, 7 passes, George route could be

an option. Or you could do Knysna, Phantom pass. Or you could just do one

of the routes in Harkerville.

 

There's quite a bit on the Plett side (but usually more than two hours). Go

to Kevin Evans' shop and ask there.

 

You are spoilt for choice!!!

From Knysna, Simola Pass and Di Ou Pad are a brilliant ride.

There's also Millstream (I think it's called - the old gold fields

area).

Thanks all I will check it out today, arrived yesterday night and just catching up.

Two of us did Petrus Brand pad on Saturday. We started at Garden of Eden on N2 towards Knysna and just before Knysna turned right on Uniondale road. Goes through informal settlement. Here a local with a piksteel (english ?) gave me a scare, took a mock swipe at me while standing centre in the road, not sure exactly what his intentions were but he was not joking. Maybe  seeing my partner 100m behind me changed his mind. Never the less, my advice: avoid this area, Kaya_something.

We proceeded to Diepwalle forest station, returning through the beautifil forest to G of Eden. Enjoyed it a lot , last singletrack stretch just before G of Eden is awesummm.

It's not a circle route, but best then to do G of Eden through forest to Diepwalle and back same way. The maps available at info is very helpfull.
