i did some comparisons witha spin session and a rid thereafter and found that the Garmin ( using sports tracks ) only calculated me burning 1652 calories. The same ride i did with a polar measured 2512 calories. What i did notice is that during the spin session the garmin only registered 222 calories so without the distance sensor on the spin bike garmin cannot record calories accurately !!

ok so the saturday we did a nice easy morning ride and i took the polar out with the garmin to see what the diffrence in calories consumed were !!

the ride was quite flat with only 205 m of up hill .

garmin did not have any HR moniter and gave me 2927 calories consumed

polar with hr monitor gave me 2768 calories consumed .

the ride was 2 hrs 26 and we did 64 km

so they in my opinion pretty close on a flat ride but would like to see what they would be like on a hilly ride
