Why 26" & 29" ?

Ask Gary Fisher who started MTB

I wouldnt say he started MTBing - maybe perfected it. Also he only used what he had lying about to make the 29" wheels, if he had 28" wheels lieing around it would be the 28" revolution now ;)

I'm sure there was somthing with 25" - unfortunately nothing online as we're going a bit back in history, before the web got famous......it wasn't for DH just full suss mtbs - mid 90's

 

must really try dig something out of the archives......

 

 

ok, I was 1/2" out - it was arrow racing in 1994 with a 24.5" wheel of a dual suspension bike
