There's a good international market for steel beauties, depending on condition - good steel kit with C-Record (e.g. Cinelli, Colnago, Bianchi, Tomassini) on Nisi rims etc. have been reaching amazing amounts. Italian bikes with Japanese groups seem to attract less interest, and value. In this market, original is best - "upgrades" seriously detract from the value of a classic bike
