I recently totally destroyed my hub when one of the end nuts came loose, opened up wider and wider which then snapped the skewer in half, shooting half out each side of the bike, snapping the end nut in 2, and damaging the free-hub seal (formula part no: DWG-034A). The inner nut then suddenly tightened, compressing the bearings into dust, and instantaneously locked the wheel. The bearings are standard bearings R40 bucks a pop, but for the life of me, no one can tell me where to get this seal.

Thanks

Ryan

Rush Sports deal with Formula brakes, but I am not sure if the Formula Hubs are from the same factory / manufacturer. Give them a shout though 033 346 2300. I also have a pair of Formula E-Hubs so knowing the info will help.... I'll do some digging!

Wow, would have been cool to be a bike-length behind you and watch that happen B)

Well....no...it wasnt that spectacular. But i was lucky. We cycled the Brait to Grace on Saterday, came 13th overall, me and my partner, and then Sunday took my little 7 year old and his mates to mtn cycle park for his party. I rode 300m and it popped, i was doingless than 10km/h. Freaky that i could have been coming down the finish line straight at 40km/h+ on saturday when it could have happened!!

Thanks for the info at Dragon Sports. Ill give them a call and see if they have.

Ill repost here by end today.

ok...dragon doesnt do formula anymore...and rush sports only does the formula brakes. Funny however they have had similar enquieries, although formula hubs and formula brakes come different companies...different parts of the world. Totally not the same thing.

I actually emailed formula this morning in Taiwan. The sales chap got back to me within minutes, they probably sleeping by now, but he has my address and said they would post me a seal and an end nut. Lets see what happens. I have an exploded view of the hub and each part with its correlating part number in pdf. If you need this for some obscure reason anyone...please see this site.

Website is www.xerowheel.com and www.formulahubs.com

There are some other hubs there too. Not a very light thing ..but seems good quality.

Hope this helps.
