The Etana daREDevil run is around the corner… 15 October to be exact!

Guinness World Records™ is on board to recognise a new world record and there is a competition on the website www.daredevilrun.com offering an all expenses paid trip (for two) to Vegas with $1 000 spending money thrown in to sweeten the deal.

Your R70 entry fee which will cover your Speedo, food and beverage on the day.

In addition to the fun we will all have, ...the run’s primary goal is to raise awareness for testicular and prostate cancer so the money raised goes to the More Balls Than Most foundation.

About the run

Sometime in 2009, an auditor was sitting in a pub with his mates when one of them daRED him to run through peak hour traffic in a speedo.

 

“That sounds like a dare I could do,” thought Nick (the auditor). And so he chatted to his connections at Etana Insurance, who he’d heard were always up for something daring. Together they gatheRED up a couple of hundRED guys, put them in speedos, sent them off into afternoon traffic and turned the event into a cause for cancer.

 

And now it’s time for brave speedo-runners to take to the streets again. Etana’s second daREDevil run will be taking place on 15 October 2010 along a short route through the streets of Parktown in Johannesburg. This year’s event will once again draw men of all shapes and sizes to help raise awareness of testicular and prostate cancer, putting aside the commonly-held belief that speedos are uncool and focusing on bigger issues.

 

A Guinness World Record™ attempt to gather the largest number of Speedo-clad men together for a run of this kind will help to spread the message beyond the borders of South Africa, ensuring that men around the world are alerted to the dangers of testicular and prostate cancer. The more men take part, the stronger the global message will be.

 

 

Run details

when:

15 October, 2010. Meet at Etana at 15h00, run starts at 16h00 on 15 October 2010.

(Don’t worry about being caught in a speedo in the cold – it’ll be summer by then!)

 

where:

The run starts and ends at Etana House, 22 Oxford Road, Parktown.

 

why:

To raise funds and awareness for testicular and prostate cancer (which affect more men than you think); to enjoy the great Jozi outdoors; to bond with our fellow men; and to wear a speedo in public without the fear of being ridiculed.

 

 

how much:

The cost for runners is R70, which includes an official Etana speedo. Payment may be made by credit card or EFT. A portion of the entry fee goes to the More Balls than Most cause marketing company, which will use the proceeds to build and maintain a mobile testing unit for testicular and prostate cancer. Entry to the “after party” is included.

 

 

dress code:

Your Etana speedo must be worn for the duration of the run. Apart from that, you may wear whatever you like!

 

 

who can participate:

The run itself is for men only, although anyone is welcome to register as a supporter or make a donation and join in on the the day.
