eggsovereasywithteandtoast Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 CRC also messed up a recent order of mine:I purchased about R3k's worth of bike bits that was sent in 3 boxes.CRC then put invoices showing the total cost of the purchase on all 3 boxes.Customs then thought there was R3k worth of goodies in EACH BOX!!!Ended up paying a monkey load extra, and customs said I would have to come up to them and prove the value of the items in the box if I did not want to pay. Paying the additional customs duty was cheaper than flight tickets from PE!!! CRC say they will reimburse me..... how I do not know yet!! Eish thats expensiveSorry to hear that this happened to you.Being called out and being served by thta unfreindly bunch at the mail depot isn't fun either.
eggsovereasywithteandtoast Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 what ever you buy,send it to a friend in the UKi f u have...get them to repack it and send as a gift and you dont pay any duties.i got my stuff exact same price as what was on the site,maybe R200 for them to send it on dhl or whatever you choose. Thats not quite an accurate recipe.If its a foreign parcel, customs will grope it.If it exceeds R400, you pay.If you don't produce proof of payment they'll keep it.

A list as long as my arm What bites me in the @rse is buying from classifieds overseas and paying duties on that. If I buy from a private individual here on for example gumtree I dont pay VAT. But if I buy from "pinkbike" Mr smith and it gets here, Then I'm charged duties, lifting fees and VAT by the mail depot. Thats mal ! Edited October 31, 2010 by eggsovereasywithteandtoast
weekendrider Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 i never payed a cent,they were shoes worth 2200 and i just collected from post office an that was that.i payed uk tax coz they were delivered in the uk.other than that i had no issues or had to prove anything?maybe i was lucky,has anyone else gone that route?
