Eggbeater pedals

Hi there

 

I've got those cheap olympic cycling shoes, I know this might be a dumb question but does the CB eggbeater cleats work with these shoes? Getting a Giant XTC 2 (2011) tomorrow!

The cleats will work - they use the standard 2 bolt shoe interface. I recommend that you get a pair of shoe shields to put between cleat & sole - it prevents the eggbeater pedals from damaging your soles.

haha, yes they do work. I assume it's the mtb olympic shoes? Have four places for screws that are almost equally spaces in a sqaure? (Not 3 places for screws in the form of a triangle.)

 

BTW, I've been riding cheap olympics for 4 years now(Since I started cycling), and they aren't that bad

Christie has a point with the shields, but I don't use them. So what if the nylon gets damaged. It's not like its expensive carbon. It will only leave marks, and not affect the integrity of the shoe

It's just an aluminium insert between the shoe sole and the eggbeater. Because the eggbeaters don't have a platform they push against the shoe and can leave marks.

Okay next question, how do you rate these pedals against shimano spd for example?

See the marks in the nylon? With cheaper shoes it's not worth the money to get the shields in my opinion

Negative:

Cleats wear faster than normal shimano cleats

Bearings have to be replaced from time to time.
