Rider3000 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Hi all !!! I am looking for people to join in our group rides in Paarl.Good training for the Cape argus (average cyclist). Anyone is welcome and we are doing about 50 - 80 Km's rides +-3 times a week. So any riders are welcoem to join ...the more the better ! Men and girls are welcome, we ave between 27 - 30 Km/H. And we normally start at 06:15 am and even later if possible. Let me know if your interested. Regards

Very much interested - but that there is my problem in finding groups to ride with in Paarl... Everybody rides in the morning - and I work in Stellenbosch! But do you guys ride over weekends as well? And if so, from which side of town do you leave?
eitan Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Check out Paarlmtb.com for regular rides, mostly mornings. Although it is a MTB site, there are often road rides posted. At the moment there is a nice one posted for this coming Saturday - out to Riebeeck Kasteel etc.
Rider3000 Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 I see sooo many people training on my way out and back everyday....this morning i saw a young girl training on her own... i think its better for all if we can get together and make it safer, especially for all the women training alone ! oh, and also if you cant swop your tube....lol Like this morning i saw her and other cyclists training at around 10 am so im sure there is people with allot of free time so lets get the group started !!! Or shall this be the instigation of that ride? I will need a relaxed ride after the 99er... If I don't get it with a group on the road, I'll be "doomed" to have to try and recover by riding mtb on the rock, which is not quite recovery material... (Upper management has a strict "no solo road rides" policy - and tbh, I don't really mind...) Anybody wanting to join me Sunday? N-Paarl Checkers, say about 6-ish? 50k's on Malmesbury road - maybe all the way to the Bothmas turnoff and back? I just can't return much after 9. And you must be able to spell R-U-S-T-I-G! Have chat, get to know each other, just ride a bike. But I do assume there's a couple of us doing 99er and wanting to stretch the legs thereafter...(?) Any takers?

If there's no response, I'm going to take the mtb and head left into the mountain... Also just heard I'll be at work during the night, so will be properly stuffed come 6. Don't expect me to be chasing anything. And if the route sounds boring - that's just a suggestion, open for negotiation. But I think it may be more than what my legs will need.

Otherwise I'll be there on an Alu Bianchi, most likely Bianchi Kit too..... lets just hope this weather cools down a bit! Malmesbury road sounds fine. Not too hectic climbs or descents

Airbender: Mads will be fine, will ride the rest of us into the dust! The force, I sense is back with this one... We may not make it a long ride, depending on who pitches, maybe 50k's? (Open for discussion.) We usually meet inside the parking area, close to the side entrance. I'll be on a blue 'Dale. To make ID easy - I'll sommer wear a Barloworld top - to match my red eyes from working the night!
