Attempted mugging Devon-Delmas area

It may be out-of-the way, but I was almost caught by three would-be muggers on the road between Devon and Delmas last week. It was a 300Km Paris-Brest-Paris qualifying audax, and I had broken free of the group at some point, and was solo.

 

About 5-10Km out of Devon towards Delmas, three youths walking along the road towards me split, and I ended up having to cycle between them. Being a bit suspicious of such things after a bikejacking at gunpoint two years back, I suddenly felt the need to speed up when I was about 20m away. In my mind, it was just as well, as one of them rushed to grab me or something out of my back pocket as I passed, but missed.

 

Who knows if it was opportunistic, but be aware of this sort of cr@p if you're cycling in the area!
