I went to the LBS with this complaint: 'my chain jumps the coggs, sometimes in the front other times in the back'. Clever techie replied, chain suck sir, we'll need to replace either the casette or chain rings...lots of money later...problem solved

That techie sucks. Chain suck has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with chain skip or chain hunting. Chain suck only happens on the chainrings and then, usually not on the large one.

 

Lots of money thrown at the drivetrain will cure chainsuck. However, a little bit of money applied more selectively will also cure it.
