  1. Also had a run in with Arno (073 170 6157) replying to my bike rack wanted . Had two racks for a great price. He was "prepared" to take half up front. Despite asking, could not provide me with his bike hub username. Said he was from PE, seemed surprised I was from JHB even when the wanted ad shows where the user is. I called a bike shop in PE and asked if the racks could be dropped and checked there and boxed up to me before I would pay. On informing Arno, surprisingly no further communication
  2. Sorry, yes it’s the down tube. The edges are very hard so don’t think it’s a paint bubble, but will sand it back to make sure.
  3. Hi all. Noticed this while washing the bike today. Had it about 2 years, got it second hand so not sure on age or mileage of the bike, but I gather Axis is one of the cheaper makes. Regular run is the spruit and delta. Should / can this be fixed, and does anyone fix it or it it time to move on up?
  4. There are some hook type things only on the middle chain ring. What are they and what is there function? Would the shark fun like profile of these teeth indicate the middle chain ring is pretty worn?
  5. Lol. Thanks for all suggestions, yes a new bike would be great, right after a new car to carry it on, and a new house to store it in...alas, funds are short. Will check for loose bolts and a bent tooth. Will see if it sorts itself after a normal ride, and pass the local shop thereafter if I don't win.
  6. Hi folks. Newby, still learning the terms so bear with me... MTB Bike went in today for a new chain and to fix a creak from the crank. Shop called to say new chain kept slipping so cassette needs changing. Also new cable for rear derailleur. So I get home and take bike for a quick ride. Crank noise sorted! But Whenever I use the middle (3x9) front gear with any rear gear, I get a similar sound to when the rear derailleur is not exactly in line, except from the front, and slower. Can also feel it through the pedals. Almost like chain is moving slightly under load. Checked to see if chain is touching the front derailleur, but looks clear both sides. Since it's a bit of a mission to get it back to the shop, was hoping it might be something that someone has experienced before?
  7. Live in same area, new to MTB. I don't have a rack so I ride down to the spruit and get on by the trail head at the bottom of Conrad. Then go along past delta Park to the gardens, and back through Linden back to Fontainebleau. Went along the spruit the other way last weekend. Must say I find the number of vagrants along the route rather intimidating. Also there is apparently a "one way" section near Iona drive that I discovered by being shat on by some riders pelting down at me. I gotta say if there are no signs, I stick to the left side. How the feck should I know there is a secret one way section??
