  1. Ja the track is on private land. there's a really nice open piece of land where the "pits" and shuttle pick up will be. The track ends about 200m up a dirt road from there. There's a nice little dam right there is you want to take a dip
  2. It's gonna stay. I'm not sure about the legality of riding there after the race. The only real issue is getting to the top of the track as the shuttle road we are using is on private land. There is another road we used yesterday but is was hectic and I wouldn't recommend anyone driving up there without a really good 4x4. I got up there in my double cab but it wasn't fun. Access is easy from the N2 but turning a shuttle car round on the N1 is another story all together tho if you were to use that as a shuttle road.
  3. Went out to the new track yesterday and helped Vince and Chris finish it off. OMS. so nice. A brief description of the track but don't hate me if i get it slightly wrong cos I only did a sighting run and my front tyre was a tad flat so I spent most of the run trying not to crash. Start steep roll in to a deep gully and out steep roll in to another deep gully and out over a ladder bridge into a gulley hip jump another hip thing steep down to the step up step up tiny drop rock drop to berm rock to ladder bridge step down rock drop small road gap jump rock drop another small rod gap rock garden pedal jump over creek end I haven't included all the features in the track but i'm sure you get the feel. There's sooo much going on all the time that you just can't relax on this sucker at all. some pics. This is Vince working on the step-up taken from the landing One of the drops. we moved the landing a little closer The berm straight after the drop. We cleaned this up a little too. The rock to ladder bridge step down your_name_here2010-02-26 03:17:15
  4. I'll try. I'll try take pics of vince on the interesting stuff on the track. but i want to do a little riding too. Test out that new helmet of mine. When i say test out i mean fit and comfort. Not the protection element.
  5. I'm going to the race venue tomorrow afternoon to finish up one of the ladder bridges. I'll try take a camera and snap a few shot to whet the appetites.
  6. REMEMBER THE RACE THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!
  7. Yoh. The Rampage comes to the suburbs.
  8. Makes our urban race look a little tame.
  9. This guy makes replacement hangers http://cgi.ebay.com/PILO-D29-DERAILLEUR-HANGER---KONA,-IRON-HORSE,-FOCUS-+_W0QQitemZ270525437046QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20100203?IMSfp=TL100203174012r18159 they are made out of 6061 ali.
  10. No. for a drop out you use a fairly soft metal. Their is logic to it. Rather have a broken drop out than a bent frame.
  11. There's a place called Castlecote in Parow. they quote me R342 to bead blast and powder coat my bike in a range of colors including clear. You will have to take out your pivot bearing etc yourself. I can't vouch for their work cos I ended up trying to save money and taking it to another place in Wetton who took 2 months to do a sh*t job.
  12. The directions are slightly wrong. You turn right at the stop street.
  13. Some features on the Sir Lowrys pass track. Drop in to a gully (easier chicken line) Hip jump step up jump berm to jump to g-out berm rock drop (easier chicken line) rock step down to pallet landing small road gap (easier chicken line) Tell me that description doesn't get the adrenalin o-meter going. While the track is action packed there is nothing that is huge and too intimidating. The last time a race was held there I tested the DH waters for the first time. I got down on a xc bike with v brakes so you can easily do it on any decentish bike.
  14. Speak to Jaco from cycle maintenance centre. (021) 930 5656. They do scott.
  15. Hey All. I worked on the Sir Lowrys track on Saturday. It was P#@s hot out there but anyways. The track itself is soooooo sick. lots of variety. nothing huge just lots of cool things. Loads of people went out there on Sunday to finish up the track. Apparently the only thing outstanding are the 2 wooden bridge things. One for the step-up and the other for one of the drops. I'm going out there with Vince on Thursday to lay the wood for those 2 features. Hopefully we will get a few runs in too. hehe. I have a new favorite track. It's gonna be such a fun track. Please. For your own sakes do the damn race on Sunday. Don't be intimidated by the fast guys. You are racing yourself not them. They are all really cool guys anyway and guys like pottie are always keen to give out advice and show you the lines. And if you are not in to the whole competitive thing don't worry. just think of it as paying R200.00 for a shuttle day. That's the way I think of it. I'm not big on begging but Please guys. Your presence means that our sport will have a future and that more tracks will be built. Come on. Do it. You will have loads of fun and make new friends too.
  16. Got a Morewood Izimu and a Santa Cruz Jackal. It's not a funky kink it's a customization.
  17. LOL. I had a foes. I cracked it. I had it welded up and swopped it with a mate for 2 pairs of Oakleys. When his shoulder heals he will be on it again.
  18. Try any Scott Dealer. or. Last year i had to buy a drop out for my Foes. No-one here sells any foes components so i sourced one from this guy. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/hila_ko/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686 The price was good and service was pretty speedy.
  19. Hehe. The dude's name is Jannie. 082 846 2940. You guys BETTER be doing the race. Vince reckons the track is sick. loads of interesting stuff.
  20. I know a guy that sprays helmets. His name is Jannie. He sprayed Arno's V10 and helmet to match. He quoted me R700 to spray my lid. you want his contact details?
  21. Ja. it is really nice, but how the hell is a D3 more expensive than a Troy lee Air Moto helmet???????????? The prices will come down for certain. They will release the composite ones soon I'm sure. I would expect the composite D3's to cost about the same as a carbon D2. I know it's just my opinion but the D2 is still the nicest looking downhill lid money can buy.
  22. My 2 helmets. The D2 is by far the better looking helmet in my opinion. My wife said i can keep both. I love her. Sorry about the crappy quality. took the pic with my phone. your_name_here2010-02-18 02:45:57
  23. Ja. As soon as I get hold of the wife's camera but this is the internet download pic. It's in keeping with my red and black theme. Gotta match on race day. your_name_here2010-02-17 05:18:31
  24. I got my T.H.E. helmet this morning. woop woop. so nice.
  25. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/event.php?eid=306400697522&ref=nf Here is the FB link to the race on the 28th. Come on guys. We all need to be there. It's a great track too.
