  1. On vehicles they put a TINY coating of copper slip on the rear of the pad to avoid the friction that is created when you apply the brakes. I don't know if this will work with bikes but I presume it will. Once it is embedded into the pad it should be fine and not wash off. I am going to try it with my Stumpjumper as the same thing happens. Will let you know if it works or just messes up the system!
  2. Did my first Epic this year and came. 118th. Not bad for a part timer. I thought it was the best event I have ever done. Everythign was perfect. Nothing to complain about at all. Plus my bike had no technicals and I service it myself. Chain lube once daily and a 5 minute talk after the days hard work was all it needed. Gotta love Specialized.
  3. This has been discussed quite a few times. It won't work. They have a different ratio system. However I have some X9 shifters going for a song. They are 2008 and in very good order. R250.00.
  4. The guy was not far from our camper. It is very sad. Not much talk about it here as guys are trying to keep heads up. Condolenses to the family.
  5. The easiest way to learn is to ask. Remember to state if it is for MTB or Road. They are pretty dofferent. Everyone who does their own work on their own bikes had to learn someway. Me mostly by expensive mistakes.
  6. Jockey wheels are the little wheels in your deraileur. What you are talking about are blades. They don't kill vampires. Blades are the gears at the front. 32/44 are the teeth they have. Once again not for vampires. The less teeth the easier the gear. The more teeth the harder the gear.
  7. Hey Mtber. I have a brand new BB as you are looking for. I bought a new XT Crankset and it came with it. I can sell it to you for R400. Issue here is I live in CT. If you can find someone to take it back to Gauteng for you it is yours. I am doing the Epic next week so can even ask the guys there to take it back for you. Just buy the tool to change your BB and you will save $$ in the long run.
  8. It sound like you are bying the wrong bike. It shouldn't touch. But above all you need to be happy on the bike and feel good. I personaly think you are going to have issues with it. I have a Spec Stumpjumper in XL and my Spec Epic is a L so doesn't make matter what anyone says. If the bike feels right make it work or you. Enjoy the new baby and hope to meet you on thr trails sometime.
