  1. Hi JB Got it thankyou
  2. Hi JB Can you give a quick explanation as to why only a fork with a compression damper will lockout compared to a fork with just rebound that won't lockout. I think thats what you are explaining here. Tks
  3. Hi JB and Lefty I guess we could debate this for ever, all points taken. JB if you have a look at the top photo, that stantion has compressed 90mm. The top bush on that fork sits right below the foam ring, approx 15mm below the toplip of the dust wiper seal. Hence the 75mm wear line on the lower picture. Just maybe he is running this fork a little soft. Lefty: I agree that the wear grooves are deeper, but they have to get there. The longer its left the more its going to wear. I just feel this fork is just starting to pick up and it needs new bushes, hence send it back to a fox agent and see what they say. Just done a RL 100, Both stantions were badly worn with wear patterns from bushes. Top left stantion (same as this fork in question) had worn so badley the groove from the bush pretruded a mm on the stantion. Sadley this fork was never serviced before. Real Shame. Have a good weekend Guys.
  4. Lefty Whats attitude got to do with it, if you take a close look at the lower picture of the worn stantion, you can clearly see the pattern of the bush. You will see straight lines with no wear in between them, those are the recess channels in the bush where the oil is suppose to flow through and lube the stantions and bushes. In your opinion do you think 30mm of fluid is enough to move around the inside of that slider through 2 bushes and lube the complete inside of that slider. I guess only a fraction of that oil gets to the top bush, unless you turn your fork up side down alot. Whats JD got to lose, they can only turn him down. Sorry one more thing, can you give me a step by step explanation how you do a 120 hour fox damper fluid lube, and why is the left leg 30 - 40 hrs and the damper 120 hrs. Just curios.Ken.s2010-01-28 14:08:11
  5. Hi JB I wasn't saying the seal popped, if you look at the picture of the worn stantion, you can clearly see the straight line pattern from the recess in the bush. As you know there are recess grooves in the bushes to allow the oil to flow around. The wear pattern is clear on the stantion. I just think its picking up on the bush. Purely my opinion.
  6. Hi JD Your wear would normally start on the airside, as there is only 30mm of fox fluid in that slider. Your stantion is picking up on the top brass bush inside the left slider. If it is only 8 months old, I would send it to fox for either a factory warranty claim, or a complete rebush of the sliders. The damper slider has 160mm of fox fluid, and therefore there is lots of lubrication around the right stantion. Your shocks should be serviced every 100 hrs, stand to be corrected. If the standard fox dust wiper seals are fitted correctly they work fine. Remember there is a foam O ring under the dust wiper seal that is soaked in fox fluid before being installed, so when the stantion returns from compression there is bound to a slight oil film on the stantion. Hense the dust. Good Luck
  7. sorry communication error on my part. Was it the same make and model rotor but different size. worked on a few shimano brakes where we experienced same problem. Ended up fitting better quality rotors, solved the problem. Google m486 brakes and scroll down, click on the mtbr link, there are a few comments on your brakes.
  8. I wouldnt use any oil if possible. The dust wiper seal has a light film of grease on the inside, and below that is foam O ring which is soaked in fox suspension fluid before it is installed. The air spring side has 30mm of fox suspension fluid and the damper side has 160mm of fox suspension fluid. More than enough oil in each leg to lube the stantions every time the fork is compressed.
  9. The wheel you changed, did it have the same rotor as the original rotor
  10. Hi Windbreaker What brakes you running
