  1. Unfortunately yes, but that is the country we live in, and the situation is unlikely to improve anytime soon. I will have do a bit of thinking around this, either stay on the more used routes, which are no guarantee of safety either actually, or be better prepared for being attacked. Or do less solo riding, which would be a pity, I love being alone outdoor.
  2. Sure that is an issue yes, but that is not what I am afraid of. I have an adventure bike too and will one day invest in one of those Spot-Trackers for safety, as I sometimes take the bike out solo too. https://africa.findmespot.com/en/index.php?cid=100
  3. I am leaning towards one of these too. In answer to an earlier question, I am very comfortable with firearms. I own several, just not a hand-gun, as I have been trying to save up for a pistol rather than buying a cheap revolver just for home-defence. Mojoman, its not about protecting your bike, its about protecting your life if they want more than just the bike. Because out in the bush alone, without your bike, you are very vulnerable.
  4. Hectic, I know a guy here in Cascades was robbed and almost beaten to death a few months ago. I agree with being trained in whatever you choose, I have been thinking about fastening one of these telescopic Batons to my top tube or handlebars as it would also dish out some hurt and has some range. https://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/283257523/Expandable_Batons_24cm_0_57kg.html?gclid=CjwKCAiA9f7QBRBpEiwApLGUis8STiBt6vHAX1XQdNay_8RFIAodbps9ZEo2o1FXD_S97-Dfqhg31RoCyqwQAvD_BwE I like that holster Letum911, part of the reason I'm asking about carrying a pistol is that I have been seriously considering buying a pistol, as I don't have one yet.
  5. Pic from yesterdays ride, turned back cause it was a bit eerie! Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  6. Hi Hubbers, What do you carry for protection/ self defence on your mtb when riding solo into the bush? I know we aren't supposed to ride alone in the bush this day and age, but alas... Anyone carry a pistol, if yes, how? Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  7. After some brief reading, what is a lower leg service if not replacing the wipers - only an oil change and clean? Reuse the crush washers, foam rings and dust wipers?
  8. Thanks gents, sounds like a good idea to me!
  9. I like the idea of keeping it for a spare for when the Reba needs a service, but wouldn't that be pointless if the oil keeps leaking out?
  10. @KV I'm a stingy bastard, that would be my last option from the lot!
  11. Hi Gents I replaced the Fox with a Reba off the hub; now what is the old Fox good for? Do I bin it, donate it, sell it, wait for and import uppers for a repair, none of the above? Thanks to madmarc I could identify that it is a "2011 32 F29 100 RL - 326339-0318". Happy hubbing!
  12. Some awesome pics on this thread! Recently started cycling, still exploring Cascades on my doorstep, finding some awesome trails as the fitness increases!
  13. I have been man down with man-flu since Saterdag, can't wait to get some riding in! Treated the bike (still nameless) for a wash at least! Can I put my KTM chain Lube on or is it no good for bicycles (can't imagine why?)? I use Motul Offroad Chain Lube on my Katoom. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
