  1. think a felt at R8k with 105 looks much better value... although carbon is an advantage of the raleigh. if you're in the east rand, Tony Impey stocks felt, raleigh and merida so you could do a nice comparison...
  2. i wish i had a tandem or a tondom to oan you just to see if you could actually do it!...and to take my split of the winnings Big statement.....you will need to post yr name so we can all check how you and your partner do if you get one!
  3. so we have establishe that HR can certainly go up! something too many of us mere mortals lack
  4. lets see if someone can back you up .... haha
  5. Right here is something im keen to know about the hub. Been relatively new here, seems there are many of you that know eachother outside the hub (that place called real world ). Who are the top riders on the hub? Any pro's? MTB and roadies...
  6. Bonked at Dome to Dome 2009! Was doomed from the start.... Mistake 1: felt a bit of a sniff coming on the saturday but didnt think too much of it and carried on with normal race prep Mistake 2: went out hard from the start to clear the busy crowds cos i was way back due to entering late Mistake 3: at halway i decided topush for a 2hr45 when my original target was 3hr Result: 30min last 5km..and leaving breakfast and race snacks 200m past the finish line....and...just missed the original 3hr target! Not pretty and certainly not very clever! Good lesson!
  7. the plane actually crashed after the swim started and the organisers had to tell guys coming out the water to head straight to the run. However the cyclist killed (confirmed that he died in the ambulance) delayed the start. If not the triathletes would have been on the bike when the plane crashed and it could have been more than just one. A sad day for the cyclist but he may have saved 20 odd triathletes..
  8. sounds good...been keen to make the switch and sounds like its not a bad option.. shot
  9. Hey guys, Wondering if anyone has recently moved over to SRAM groupsets having ridden shimano for a while. Keen to know what the key differences are and whether the cross over is pretty easy or not.....and would you recommend Sram or is Shimano still the better bet? Cheers
  10. Been new on thehub, let me give you a brief history before venting my frustrations. I am on the search for a new bike. Been off the bike for a good few years after 7 odd years of racing. So when i got bck onto the bike i opted for a cheapie to see if i could get the legs back and spend time in the saddle. Happily i am getting back in a big way....but now my cheapie is just not gonna cut it. So i am looking for a carbon bike and am doing tons of research on the net and think I have settled on 3 options: Pinarello FP3, Look 566, or Specialized tarmac Comp. Now the frustration and dilemma! I find a bunch of online retailers in the states and UK and can get the LOOK or Pinarello complete with Ultegra and fulcrum wheelset for around R30k and that is taking into account possible duties and shipping costs....so why is it that if i want to support a local bike shop they want me to pay R23k just for the FRAME! I am so tired of been ripped off as a South African consumer because these bike shops want to rip the arse end out of their margins!!! If anyone has brought a bike in from overseas i would love to know if the process works as I refuse to support these sharks locally!
