  4. If you can afford a nice new CX bike you can afford a proper set of pedals Just pick up a pair of cheap SPDs and shoes, MTB pedals shred dirt and the cleats have some float which is ideal when riding off road, even on gravel.
  5. Next stop will be Kansas City in the USA, twice, once in the end of March and then again in the end of April On the way to Germany now but only 1 night away so no chance to ride
  6. Wow, another fantastic offer, but just so you know I was born in Auckland, so maybe that changes your offer Where you based? I moved to the UK from I was 2 so I don't feel like a real Kiwi, still have family in the North Island spotted about mind, been back there a couple of times to visit but last time was more than 20 years ago! In fact, last time I was there I actually booked onto a DH ride in Queenstown, road down some old miners trail, was mind blowing given this was before modern DH was really a thing
  7. Thanks again Rudy, I actually thought the terrain was quite forgiving, well, certainly was compaired to trying to push through a deep mud bog section here in Sweden I really hope to get back and ride again with you, maybe in the 2nd half of this year, but I'll have to wait and see how the business pans out.
  8. We have sunblock in Sweden, but over here we call it Cloud Cover
  9. Happy to do so, as long as you don't all come at once And the weather here is a little different to SA, so you'll need proper winter gear, even for the summer
  10. Benoni farm trail tour: And now the beauty shot that will last me until the Swedish summer
  11. Well, goodness, what a trip, just about recovered but seriously missing the weather and the people I've done this kind of trip many times over the last 10 years visiting different countries around the world and I have to say the people of South Africa are amazingly friendly and helpful. In fact the most helpful I've ever come across, you should be proud of yourselves! I was lucky enough to be treated really well and meet quite a few really nice local riders, young and old, male and female I have a few people to shout out for offering special help: Rudy - this guy picked me up from the other side of town late in the evening, put me up for the night, picked up a loan bike for me and SPDs, fed me porridge and then took me for the group ride you see above. A great ride out, taking in some beautiful SA farm trails and even a fun MX track, I could have stayed out all day! Followed by a Cafe stop to celebrate a 69th Birthday for Ian (I think) with carrot cake and coffee. He then let me shower at his place before driving me back into town to the company I was visiting. WOW, what a true Gent, thank you so so much Cliff - for the loan of his Niner, sorry about the thorns in the tires For the Spruit ride: Guy - For making time out of his busy life to guide me around the Spruit, amazing what riding can be found inside city limits; Ian - for also getting in touch and helping in some way; Andre - for kindly offering me to loan his bike even if in the end I didn't need it; Grant at Sprocket and Jack / The Trailhead - for loaning me an almost new Trek Stache 7, was a shame the Pyga was missing a wheel but maybe next time. And thanks to everyone else I met or offered help. Now for the photos
  12. My Trek Stache 9, loving the 29er Plus for winter/training duties
