  1. Jongozi, I'm in the same boat you are at the moment got shin splints and training for IM. My suggestion to you is as follows: 1. Re- think your strategy for Iron Man. Do you want to go for a good time or do you just want to complete the event in the allotted time? You may have to spend more time walking the marathon that running so improve your other disciplines to give you more time for the run. 2. Take a break from running i.e. REST (if you get a stress fracture you won't be doing Iron Man at all) 3. You can still use swimming and cycling to work on your cardio fitness while taking a break from running. 4. Go see a good physio for some topical relief from the pain as well as to assess the cause of the injury (imbalance etc), and get program to get you back up and running. 5. REMEMBER when you start back to running build up slowly i.e. literally walk before you run!!! A useful link I found when researching treatments: http://www.sportsinj...s-treatment.htm http://www.thestretchinghandbook.com/archives/shin-splints.php Hope you get sorted, and good luck with the training.
