  1. That is what I thought. I suppose on a multi stage race, especially if you have to look after your own bike. Thanks for the input guys
  2. You know when you get into an expensive car, those that not every person can afford, there are always some tiny detail that reminds you that you are in a kind of luxury that doesn’t come by every day. Well when it comes to bikes I have always had the same idea. When you look at your top end bikes there is always something different like the shape of the top tube or how all the mechanics come together that caches your eye and make you think “That must be a top end bike” One of these fine details for me was internal cabling. Internal cabling always gave me the impression of n bit more planning, a bit more care and a bit more detail, which is what makes the difference between a top end bike and a mid-range bike. I am now looking to buy a Momsen Vipa XT 2016 and saw that the Momsen has external cabling. Now this has no influence on my choice. I am just curious to know if there is any specific reason for a mountain bike to have the cabling on the outside and what the pros and cons is with regards to internal vs external cabling.
  3. Hi guys. I need technical help. I have an ORBEA ZONAL (not sure if it is the COLUMBUS) frame which was originally fitted with a campagnolo group set. I bought a secondhand SRAM Rival set. I was informed by my local bike fundi that I will have to have the chamber for my BB resized. This is called “precision Facing” as the old frame and new BB do not pair precisely and this will lead to bearings being worn-out every couple of months. Where can I have this process done and what is the cost? Then, the SRAM cassette does not fit on the Campag Scirocco rim. What type of rim must I buy to fit the SRAM cassette besides a SRAM rim?
  4. Go to any ‘The sweat shop’ They will sort you out and the make and kind of shoe you need. Avoid ‘Total Sport’. All you’ll get there is loud hip-hop music, incompetent staff talking to 20 of their friends that are seated on the benches you are suppose to use when fitting shoes, and a wide variety of “sportive” shoes (Shoes that have nothing to do with sport, but they go nice with tracksuit pants. like I was told when I dare to ask......)
  5. Okay, I’ve decided on Crossmark. But which one? Crossmark, Crossmark LUST or Crossmark Exception series
  6. Stuck with the same problem. Need to replace my current ‘Hutchinson Pythons’ but can not fork out R790 / tyre. Asked a good friend of mine that did most of the races in SA (twice). He made quite a study on tyres and he recons the best all rounder is the ‘Maxxis Cross mark’. Not o mention the mere R270 / tyre. I am also looking at the Conti Mountain Kings but need a little convincing after reading some reviews on it. Any meanings out there on the Maxxis?
  7. Hi guys. I need to buy new tires for my MTB. I have used Hutchinson Python UP until now, but would like to make sure there are not something beter and more suitable out there for my conditions. I live and ride mostly on the open plains of Mpumalanga, hard gravel road and single-track. Any suggestions?
  8. My race number on the front of mag. was also different from the one on the website. I phoned them and they said that the magazine’s is wrong the one on the website is the correct one. Good luck to all of you doing te IM on Sunday. Asked my cousin to hold thumbs for me her reply was: ‘Duime hou gaan F*kk*l help nie, ek sal vir jou bid” So to all out there not doing the IM....... don’t hold thumbs, pray!
  9. I’ll. be there. With no nerves left....
  10. Our prayers and condolences with his family. RIP Brett.
  11. Clean H2O is not a conductor, the chemicals and especially the salt in the H2O makes it a conductor. Mine works fine under my tri-suit or wetsuit. There is no ‘swim’ setting on the Polar but I use the ‘Speed OFF’ setting so it only measures time and HB.
  12. While we are on this. Can anybody tell me how to change between exercise types when doing a triathlon on my Polar S625X. I have tried holding down the bottom right button like the manual says but that only changes my HR from average, to max, to current.
