  1. Glad to hear you enjoyed the Scouts Trail - it is quite some awesome riding and you need to be in good shape for this one, which we assume you are! Apologies for the bit of confusion regarding Tygerberg members using the Scouts Trail - we did clarify this better on the www.wildboartrails.co.za website after your query. The Wild Boar Trails network starting at VDC and Welvanpas are all free for Tygerberg members. The Scouts are a wonderful charity organisation and need all the funding they can get, so all our riders' money are going to a good cause there. We also provide pro bono trail maintenance to the Scouts re their trail. So, happy riding!!

  15. This is the reason (or one of the reasons) why a gravel bike is NOT suitable - please just be realistic about this....
  16. Hi there! Thanks for the feedback on the trails - we are always happy to make people happy . You followed the correct procedure with signing in. You are most welcome to ride earlier, but certain landowners don't want people riding over their land (on the trails) in the dark (safety & security reasons), so it is too early if you need a bike light - wait until it gets light enough not to have to use a bike light.
  17. Hi Guys Yes, entries have closed as we reached almost full capacity. We can still allow Race entries (1-day), but not Trek (2-day). So, if you want to do the Race (1-day) on Sunday 7 April, please send me an email to ellanevanwyk@gmail.com. Just note that late entries will unfortunately not receive a goody bag.
  18. We just tested riding the Heuningvlei section of the Race route this morning. It is definitely not suitable for a gravel bike . Extremely rocky and sandy in patches . This stretch is about 10km. BUT the most scenic 10km you will ever find on a bike!
  19. The black route is not officially open and does not form part of the Wild Boar Trails trail system at the moment. It was cleared for the event only. If you know your way around the area, you can ride it, but keep in mind that it is not maintained on a regular basis and not fully marked.
  20. Well done to all the HARD-CORE riders who finished (or even attempted ) the first vertical challenge of the Imbuko Big Five MTB Challenge! From the 270 entries, 206 started, and 190 finished . Looking forward to 2020!!
  21. Nope! This might add to your body weight, and then how are you going to master all those climbs??
