  1. hi new bike girl i always love hearing about people who start cycling... or any sport for that matter! so CONGRATS this is probably the best choice you've made if you live in the johannesburg area, come pop into the design quarter. i am inside Cycle Lab and work with people just like you enjoy the mountain biking!
  2. hi Tailrider, i am a sport scientist based in fourways... if you need testing you can come to me! nericepistilli@fitpro.co.za thanks
  3. hi hi... yes i ride a bike! been doing mountain biking since 9 years. i currently ride a GT avalanche 2... and i am very happy with it!
  4. hi mongoose, well i am sure you have discovered that there is a lot you can do with heart rate monitors! but its all useless if you dont know how to use the information. with just a basic heart rate monitor you can already do quite a lot. since you far from me, try looking for someone on your side of SA that works with sport specific assessments. you can maybe consider going for a VO2max test and get training zones calculated for you. or you can just use the basic age formula to determine heart rate zones. these are especially helpful when you want to know how to train during different training phases or if you would like to monitor your training progress. there is so much to say about heart rate training zones.... so i think first decide why you actually want to look at heart rate.
  5. i was reading through all of your questions and concerns about heart rate monitors... have you come right with buying the best one? if you need some help with training heart rate zones and so forth, you can contact me. i am a sport scientist and work with this stuff all the time.
