I was staying at https://www.diemersfontein.co.za/ they have a lovely restuarant, I think you could park there if you end your ride with a meal there.

My schedule had me shift the ride to later in the day. I made it up and back down safely, awesome valley and a pristine road surface 🙂

Thank you for the reassurance and tips for the mountain locals @JohanDiv. I arrived in Wellington today, I will go up the pass the next two mornings. Pity my rides will end just before sunrise, but I'm sure I will enjoy it still.

Can anyone tell me how safe going up Bain's Kloof in the early morning from a crime perspective? I'll be in the town for a few days and would like to ride at 5 am to the top and drop back into Wellington.
