  2. Hi Dustman, the Amashova Team event is a social batch. If you want to ride as a team and cycle for prize money then you must enter with the Elites / Vets. Hope this helps
  3. Despite the Amashova Durban Classic not having a sponsor for 2011, the 106km race and 38km fun ride are still going ahead. We are very proud to say that the numbers are so far exceeding those of last year Keep it going guys
  4. Hey we were at Giba Gorge this weekend - what an awesome sight!! So many people riding and enjoying the facility - the best was seeing so many families there! I am so pleased that the Management there have permitted to host the Amashova Mountain Bike events there in October again this year - it is a first class facility - that offers world class meals and friendly service - and now there is a Cyclelab Shop there that hires out bikes - we took friends who were visiting from JHB and they loved it - well done guys and thanks from the Amashova girls

This is totally out of our hands. It is a CSA rule that has come into effect as at the 1st April 2007. It is on our website, on the home page. Thanks

Hi Guys, We have had a lot of emails about the licensing issue. Please see below the rules in KZN. Seeding for the Pick ?n Pay Amashovashova Cycle race 2007 Please note ALL Cyclists wanting to participate in events in Kwa Zulu Natal: RACING LICENCE: The cyclist must belong to a club. The cost of a Full Licence is R110.00 and R55-00 per discipline CYCLOSPORT LICENCE: The cyclist must belong to a club, more for the recreational cyclist and beginner. The cost is R55.00 and R20.00 per discipline. Riders will be on the national data base and will be seeded. TEMPORARY LICENCE:You do not have to join a club. This will cost R30.00 per event. The rider will NOT be seeded in any event entered. Rider will start right at the back. The cyclist will NOT be on the national seeding index. If a cyclist has been licenced previously he will not be able to purchase a temporary licence. DAY LICENCE: This will be for the cyclist that is licenced and whose details are on the national data base but does not produce his licence at registration. PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR RIDERS TO ALWAYS CARRY THEIR LICENCE AND PRODUCE IT AT REGISTRATION. When a rider enters an event from Gauteng he will produce a credit card type membership card, this is acceptable as well as the PPA membership card, to enter into the events in the province. Seeding will be based on the Supercycling seeding index and will use Winning Time and Champion Chip.
  20. Hi Epoh last year at the Shova we started a cycling club and as we were concerned that they would need to have some sort of bike Maintenance we asked the local Amakosi to select 10 young guys that would be interested in doing a Bike Mechanics course - last year Weldtech came to the Valley for 3 full days just before the race in October and taught these guys - i was hoping that they would get involved in on route neutral service at the race - but they all wanted to ride our 40km ride from Hillcrest!! - so bang went that idea!! These kds just loved cycling and when I saw them on the road I nearly died as they rode with absolutely NO road sense or awareness of cars, pedestirals, street signs etc. etc. As a result of this we have ear marked an area at Inchanga and I have approched, businesses to be partners with the Amashova in our social responsibiltiy programme and help us build a cycle Road safety park. This has been welcomed with open arms and we already have an asphalt suppplier, ground leveling, concrete fence supplier, rural toilet installer, trees and grass from a local nursary. The RTI in PMB and DBN are delighted and will use the park to train all local schools in KZN - this is a self sustaining project that will hopefully prepare all road users - particularly cyclists for the future. Will keep you in the picture as things develop!
