  1. Why would we want to do that when it is plainly apparent that when people enter into civil discourse, problems can be resolved.
  2. Witkop, thank you If the comments that you have read offend you then, I apologise. There was no intent to offend. I do wonder though where does the line get drawn when you post humour on a private board, that board is then taken onto other forums with sinister intentions. Should I get offended, or should I respect your right to your opinion ?
  3. Afternoon all, I am right here and have no problem having a civil discourse with you. It is plain for any one with an ounce of sense that this has been brought up with the intention of **** stirring and a deliberate attempt to discredit me. Why else would you copy and paste comments from a private board. Further to this, if you read and understand the post correctly, you can see the tongue in cheek reference is actually a reminder to keep an eye out for cyclists while on the run as well as other references to drinking which serves the same purpose. It seems to me that you take great delight in this type of trouble making. The truth being that you not only damage the relationship between cyclists and Think Bike but that you will ultimately cause damage to yourselves too.
  4. Think Bike wishes to again express our horror at this senseless loss of life and hope that the family can find peace. The CSA has eventually associated itself to THINK BIKE, almost three years AFTER THINK BIKE added the cyclist to their bumpersticker, ANDprovided marshalls at a discount to road races. There is still not a SAFETY officer on the CSA committee. CSA also has done NOTHING for cycle commuters, but rather focused on competitive cycling only. We have no cyclists on our committee either, go figure, we give up offering
  5. FYI Skin applied to tar at an average of 15kmh will abrade at a rate of 3mm per second. We Marshals hate washing that crap off our bikes after riding through it.
  6. To answer your question I am a HEAD MARSHAL for THINK BIKE and have seen more sorrow and heartache, not to mention body parts than I would wish any one. I am the same bloke that puts his body and machine on the line FOR YOU. The reality is that until WE, change OUR attitudes then nothing will change. As for being PC. I stopped that a long time ago, about the same time I got immune to seeing bloody messes. 1 person hurt leaves a ripple effect that effects dozens other lives. DO YOU STILL NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THINK BIKE IS ABOUT CHANGING ATTITUDES AND DRIVING/RIDING BEHAVIOR. regardless of who or what you drive / ride you know we are right and still come back all guns blazing. if you used that intellect and brains in constructive ways, we would be halfway there.
  7. These are things that will keep you alive and these are the things that i never see anyone doing. Bigots never see anything but their own perspective, they are blind to everything else
  8. Anything that enhances visibility gets my vote. The message is a bonus. great initiative. keep it up
  9. Will do, we plan another one for April. Would be really cool to have you join us. Thanks for the offer.
  10. We had a whole morning of it all over, north south east and west, my banner over the R59 even had a bicycle on it pity no cyclists came to join us though, maybe next time. you guys are used to getting up early.
  11. It does indeed Shaun, carry on the good work. I know that you will bring us in where it is mutually benficial
  12. thank you for that, we are passionate about road safety, the reason for this post is to prod and poke some of you guys into getting involved, we already have a cycling discussion board on our forum and want to see some of you representing our mutual concerns and solving common problems.
  13. Thank you so much, actions speak so much louder than words. try this please go here http://www.thinkbike.co.za/docs/Brand/ZFold/2009%2009%20-%20ZFolds%20D8%20Curves%20%28Small%29.pdf Can't be too much work to make this more cycling format. This is what I talk about, you have the resources. Propose changes we can make to this leaflet. Send us stuff. You can then print this from your printer and give to ten other people. Can you just imagine if every "hubber" did this. We can, we did it.
  14. Your sig says it all
  15. Please mail clock@thinkbike.co.za we will organise with the CPT guys to get stock to you, maybe at the Argus. I know that they are Marshaling the Giro.
  16. Firstly, from every single member of Think Bike, we would like to express our sheer horror at the recent events in Oudtshoorn and send our condolences to those families that have suffered this tragic loss. I have been reading the threads and note the call for the black arm bands, this reminds me of the protest ride that I did 2 years ago when the 2 cyclists lost their lives in the Alberton area. I would like to give you a little history, Think Bike was started by a small group of people on a biker discussion forum. These guys pooled some bucks and had some leaflets made, there was interest and some small sponsors chipped in and it grew from there. The interesting part is how it grew and still continues to. We treat each biker as an evangelist, we give him 1 leaflet for him to read AND TEN MORE TO HAND OUT. With your numbers and a similar commitment, we could be reaching hundreds of thousands of people, yet the cyclist seem reluctant to engage with us. The work has been done, there is no reason to re-invent the wheel and Think Bike has been very successful in the 4 short years of existence. If you really want to do something, stop the apathy and join us. Together we can make a difference and make the roads safer for everyone Yours in road safety: Stranger aka HeadMarshal
