  1. Been inform by local distributor they no longer supply these. Pity I wasn't told that 2 years ago when I spent over R2k on the light. Anyone know who could 'repack' the batteries in Cape Town
  2. People are racially profiled every day from both sides so lets not all get on our happy horses. It's not acceptable but I think in this case it might be a little out of context based on the history of the shop and the owners.
  3. Ladies and Gents, I'm 47+ so don't do tight lycra anymore.. just to many crying children at coffee shops. I have probably spend the best part [on and off] of 12 months trying to locate a simple nice pair of baggies without liner option. The general reply is mostly "yes we have 3 purple ones in extra small ladies" "We have some great Specialized ones arriving in 12 weeks" "We only have these 3 seasons old First Ascents with mould on them". So are there any Cape Town-based shops or suppliers with stock of a simple Black Bontrager, Specialized or similar baggies.... worth a try ?
  4. This is so amusing, sure there are idiots who do this sort of thing... yes this message goes out to you Mr Chop who took the trouble to type the sign. Does this mean that every road in SA will have a similar sight moaning about bad drivers, Every park will have sign about badly behaved dogs, Every public building will have a sign related to bad service, cheer up dude!! If someone rides too fast for you, talk to them, engage!!! 9 times out of 10 the cyclist will comply to your request, and maybe the 10th oke will bob you on the nose.... which i personally think you might need for defacing a beautiful park with your silly potty-mouth little rant of a sign... so BORING, and so LAST SEASON !!
  5. This is why this event rocks! Normal people doingAMAZING THINGS, I was there managed 15 laps and I remember that Hub Jersey, quietly getting on with the job at hand, no posing, no fanfare, slow and steady ! NICE POST, WELL DONE
  6. Howzit Marc, John Loubser here, please drop me a mail with your service fee structure etc. to johnl@mapstudio.co.za when you have a gap. You still certified to do Fox shocks on site etc. Glad all's going well
  7. Thanks all, will pay him a visit next week !
  8. Does anyone know which shop, Mark Carr (ex Crown Cycles bike mechanic) has moved to ?
  9. Take Gamkaskloof ''Die Hel,'' We did a ride [NOT THE RACE] in there 3 weeks back. Paid the accomModation and the daily conservation fee, we road in and out on bikes, only one car went in.... but they wanted a R50 per day fee per bike !!! I'm sorry but if I've paid the conservation fee, then it's paid and done! If I had the Wild card the same would apply, but then at Kogelberg I only need the WILD CARD... it's insane, they just make it up as they go along.
  10. So SANParks have increased the annual bike permit fee for Table Mountain, Tokai & Silvermine and are now also planning to charge for children under 12. So if I want to walk my dog and cycle with my kids, I need 5 permits at R2000 for the lot. When is this going to stop ? The day permit fee has increased to R60 per entry, I don't really care what's right and wrong here, THIS IS A RIP OFF !
  11. I think all this is valid, and a lot of what's going on is just frustration from all sides. So here is a challenge to SANpark, why not have a mid year special all permits half price, reckon almost every rider walker will be happy to buy a R220 permit, set up at Rhodes mem gate, and make a day off it.. Make an effort to actually engage with the cyclists!
  12. There's nothing new here, could apply to any shop. it's not great but we all f..... Up from time to time. establish a relationship with a shop, and this takes time, believe me it does. Buy you mechanic a few beers over Christmas, spend some time and money in the shop, and then they will bend over backwards. Most of all discuss your problems face to face, you did this, I'm not happy can we reach a compromise. Bike shops often want to solve problems, that cost money with small margins... Tough job. And no, I don't own a bike shop, but have a good relationship with my local bike shop and the mechanic, and It works.... But it takes time
  13. Great bike, good shock, XT is solid... The way GT used to make bikes, a classic. Plus loads of street cred!!
  14. Shocks fine, BB done 17 months still fine, key is regular servicing and keep it clean. I reckon the weak spot is the DT Swiss rear shock, but pivots don't seize by themselves... The get dirty, they get dry, they creak, and squeak and we keep ignoring them, and then something breaks... And it's a crap bike ? That doesn't make sense ?
  15. Sun May 4, 2014 1:52 am (PDT) . Posted by: "Kenilworth News" Early this morning a motorised bicycle (Avalanche 'Range') was found dumped in the front garden of a house in Belsay Rd (off Bathurst). If you know who it belongs to please contact Gabriele Feiter on 021 797 6158 or 078 224 6945.
