  1. Hi. I did source an Ultegra which is now on the bike, but would like to fix this one for a spare. Thanks though.
  2. Hi. I am looking for a spring for down shifting like the one in the picture. I managed to get this broken one out and is confident to replace it myself. Problem is I don't see this part listed on the Simano website. Would this be available somewhere or should I advertise to get a second hand one to strip
  3. Thanks guys. Definitely not the cable. From the video I can see that it must be the spring on top that is not moving the little arm back
  4. Hi. My right hand STI stopped shifting down gears. The problem seems to be that the "arm" inside the STI does not return when I shift up so there is no "clicking" when you want to shift down. If I manually move it backwards, then I can shift down. Could it be that the spring is broken. I have cleaned everything properly, so it is not that. 20231203_155341.mp4
  5. Thanks everyone for the advice. Definitely a problem with the shock as it defaults to the closed position and cannot click into any of the other positions. It is constantly under spring load. I'm unfortunately quite far away from all who offered help and will have to take it to my LBS. As a first resort, I always try to fix myself, but are not familiar with suspensions
  6. Yes, it does not make sense. Hard to explain. According to the manual you press the silver selector all the way so that it is in the open position, then thread the cable through, pull tight and secure the grub screw. If I do that I cannot move the selector to the locked position because it is already as far as it can go. As I mentioned, the shock cap is springloaded in the closed direction. It would have made sense if it was the other way around so that you can pull it to the closed position
  7. At the moment I have disconnected the cable. There is no lever on the cap to turn it to different positions. If I insert an allen key in the grub screw, I can force it under tension anti clock (open), but the moment I release the tension it spring loads back to the fully closed position. The fork is therefor by default in the closed position. The cable cannot push it to the open position as the tension is too much. It rather pushes the cable back into the selector, causing it to become slack.
  8. This shock has a remote CTD lockout. It worked perfectly until recently. Now the remote cable is pushed back into the lever, leaving the fork in the "locked" position. I tried to turn the blue cap on top of the shock anti clockwise to the un-lock position but it is spring loaded and just jumps back clockwise. Did something became unstuck inside the shock
  9. Don't want to ponder too much on this, but if you have an Afgri retailer (old ko-operasie) in your area, they sell a product called "Kleer 4007". It comes in a 5l container for R70. I dilute it to get 10l. I've been using it forever on all my bikes and everything else. The maid uses it for our clothes instead of Preen and it even works better. I also use it in my Parktool chain cleaner. For the rest of the bike I use a spray bottle. Frame, cassette, derailleurs, chain rings, etc. Quick brush off and everything is sparkling clean. Rinse with hose. Bounce the bike a few times and tilt onto back wheel to get water out of the frame. Wipe with cloth, leave it in the sun to dry properly and lube the chain.
  10. Does anyone know who is the local agent for Real Design rims. Got a set of Hyper Fly's (1365grms/set), but started to form cracks at the spoke ends. Had an accident some time ago and the back wheel was slightly damaged. Would like to have re-build to something similar (20/24 spokes). The newer version is called Ultra Sphere. Don't want something too heavy, as it is only used for racing. The local agent on their website is a person in Paarl, but he does not respond to e-mails.
  11. Thanks, maybe it is time to get ADSL. In the beginning it was super fast, but now it is more a frustration than anything else. It took me more an hour to compose the message!!

It starts of with a very good signal, but the download speed drops from 4-10kbps to 0bps and then stays there for a while. Ramps up again but drops to 0 within a few seconds. Is this due to bad reception. Then why does the signal shows to be strong.
  13. Take my advice. MyloCORT cream. You can get it without prescription. Works overnight.
  14. I took my bike there before the D2D as I had a problem with my FD/STI. The mechanics spend 30 minutes on trying to solve the problem. Andrew came there himself to assist, being very friendly and determined to solve the problem. He offered to send the STI to Shimano if the problem presists. So far it is working relatively OK. They did not charge me a cent. I will certainly take my bike back there if needed. I know you cannot expect personal service like that every time, but small gestures like that will certainly make me go back and support him. I ride in the same category as him, but no-where in the same class, so I respect him for his achievements and what he has done for cycling.
  15. Sorry, I don't read ALL the posts and only heard this week.
