  1. Thanks for all the replies! Will be posting the sale soon.
  2. Thanks for the reply! I bought it early in 2019, just after they came to market, so I assume it has to be the 2019 model. I think you might be thinking about the Switch Pro. Those retailed for around 30k, this is the Elite which was closer to 21k at the start. That's also why the prices on these listing don't really make sense to me. There's a Titan Switch Pro on sale for 24k (which makes more sense) and a Titan Switch Elite going for R30k which doesn't. But then, it appears that the market really has changed in the last few years, because I see people selling aluminium gravel bikes with Claris groupsets on for 20K. That's why I'm at a loss as to how to price this one.
  3. Hi all, I hope this is in the right section. But I couldn't find a "seller's advice" section so I thought this would be the closest fit. I'm looking to sell my 2019 Titan Switch Elite. It's a great bike but due to moving a while back I find that I don't use it at all, opting instead for the MBT when the opportunity to cycle arises. The thing is, I have absolutely no idea what a decent asking price for this bike would be at market right now. So I was hoping I could get some rough ballpark figures before advertising it. Attached are some photos. The bike is being serviced at the moment. According to the technician the chain is basically new, the cassette is at 75%, so everything is still in very good nick. There are some minor scratches on the frame but everything is superficial. I've never had a hard fall or anything like that on the bike. The specs are: Shimano 105 Groupset (lovely groupset if I have to say so myself). 36-46t front, 11-32t back. The rims and brake are Titan Racing (brakes are mechanical disks, I would consider this the weakest point on the bike). Tyres in good nick. Tubeless conversion done. The bike was one of the first Switch Elites, I think the serial number is 07 or 09 or something like that. The frame and fork is carbon. It really is a lovely bike and I'm sad to see it go.
  4. Hi there, it's been a while! I Kind of forgot about this post but recently re-encountered it. So here's an update: I Did buy the Titan Switch, and I've done about a 1500 on it now. It's fantastic bike and I don't really see why other Gravel bikes with similar components go for 10k more. The 105 Groupset works like a charm and I've never had any issues with it, even in the muddiest / rockiest terrain. I Once literally drove under-water( my upper torso stuck out above the water that was it) (through silt of unknown depth) for about 30 meters and all was well... The mechanical brakes aren't great, and some more modulation would be great as the tyres, being thinner than proper MBT tyres do lock up easily. I Also replaced the saddle with an aftermarket one. Otherwise the bike has served me in a stellar fashion as both a weekend warrior bike and a daily commuter (got a big ol shackle-lock to dissuade those pesky bike nabbing fairies). My main issue with the bike ended up being a social one where I was too fast for my MBT friends and too slow for my Road Bike friends on our morning tar-road rides.
  5. Ah, I see, that's good advice thanks. I Think that mechanical will be good enough, I am used to a roadbike with rim brakes, and quite frankly, I basically just want a roadbike that can handle tougher terrain, I'm not going to go falling down the side of a mountain.
  6. I Noticed that the mechanical disk brakes might a "weak" point. But I was thinking along the lines that braking power isn't such a big issue on a gravel bike, and also, brakes aren't that difficult to upgrade later on. This bike will be a long term investment. I Don't buy expensive things lightly and unless it gets stolen, I want to use it as my primary means of local transport for the next 10 or so years, minimum. So it makes sense to get a setup that has a more expensive frame, but saves on more easily replaceable/upgrade-able components.
  7. Ok, let me sort this out before it gets out of hand. I Can understand if people might feel upset about the idea of bursary being used to buy a luxury item. I Agree with this. I must however point out the difference between different kinds of bursaries. The bursary that I am receiving is not an undergraduate/development bursary, but is a post-graduate research bursary which is "payment" for research output, i.e. my research output (it also compensates a bit for the greater amount of money that I could have been making in a professional position). So in this case, the term "bursary" can easily be replaced with researcher salary. I Hope that sorts it out.
  8. In a way it does, it's just for cashflow, I actually do temporary work as a lecturer as well, and in reality THIS is what will be paying for the bike, but that money is spread out over the year, so I'm using the lump sum of the bursary to purchase the bike
  9. Replying to all... So, it seems that people are positive. That's been the general response. Now I just have to wait for my bursary to pay out... I Already have a nice day trip to Parys via some dirt roads planned...
  10. Hello all, I'm new to cycling, recently bitten by the bug. I Currently have a RC3000 roadbike but would like to get something more versatile, but not as limited (in terms of road usage) as a MBT. So I decided on a gravel bike. After some consideration I decided on the 20k range, and after more research I decided on this new bike brought out by Titan, the Switch : https://www.titanracingbikes.com/product/switch-elite/ The specs are very decent, as well as the weight (10.1 kilos for a large frame). But I have been warned about buying "cheap carbon" (and 22k is pretty cheap for a new carbon bike). Also, because of the new-ness of the bike I can't find anything in terms of reviews. So, I was wondering if there are any informed opinions around here, or perhaps someone who has bought the bike, or knows someone who has... Greetings from Potchefstroom (NWU student).
