  1. I had the same issue once, my rear brain not engaging after one ride Went back to the shop, shock was sent back to Stellenbosch and a loan put on my bike, hardly an issue. Stuff like this happens, go to another shop where you will be taken seriously also the oil is of no concern, looks normal to me
  2. Thats a good idea, i have to put the music load to drone out the noise from the tyre, watching a movie or season is not even an option
  3. I had 11 speed xx1 on my bike, needed to replace and looked at cassette prices a couple of months ago and xx1 was not an option, an x01 cassette was R5k with Gx being +-R3k... I opted to buy off the classifieds seeing that everybody is upgrading to 12 speed,
  4. I tried that, there is no play in that cable housing.
  5. Hoping somebody in this thread can assist me. I need to get to the bolt to remove the grips on the integrated twinloc its on a 2016 930 Spark This bolt is located behind the dropper cable, do i really need to remove the dropper cabling to get to this bolt? I think this is a really bad design choice? I heard the twinloc design changed in 2018 have they addressed this?
  6. I need a recommendation on a place to buy a sram cassette. I currently have a x01 11 speed and to replace it with an x01 is going to be costly. Mine will need replacing soon. Any advice on online retailers?
  7. Why not go for a Stumpjumper ST? It has no proprietary parts on it an reviewers seem to like it, however that's also to be debated cos I've never read a bad review of any bike. I own a Spark 930 and an Epic. The Epic is 2kg's lighter than the Spark an due to this most rides are on the Epic. The only gripe I have with the Spark is a really exposed bottom bracket area, all trail bike have protection under the BB but Scott decided to rather save weight. Other than that it's a great bike
  8. The RC will climb better but it is so negligible is it worth it? i would guess you might only be 2-3kph faster up hills, The only issue i have with my Spark is the lack of frame protection for a trail bike, they should have added something around the BB area
  9. So last year I bought a new bike and for various reasons decided on the new trail oriented Scott Spark. Getting the bike I knew that the frame protection is non existent, there is no BB protection or chainstay guard. Dunno if this was due to weight saving or what. I read numerous reviews and some reviewers mentioned this as a problem and one reviewer even cracked a frame due to a rock strike at the BB. I've never had bad rock strikes after years of riding and knowing this I decided to use those Lizard Skin tape protection kits on the BB and chainstay. Hindsight I dunno if it was due to the bike or my skills evolving but I was starting to look for more technical riding. So this passed weekend I went for a ride on a very loose and rocky trail and got a rock strike. The strike didn't sound too bad and I decided to continue and inspect any damage at home. Once home I checked the area and saw that there was a crack. I did a sound test with a coin and the sound is definitely muted around the cracked area. I'm still not sure if its a crack or just paint but I'm assuming the worse as the paintwork is matte. Planning to take it to a shop this weekend to have it assessed. What are my options, I'm assuming this is not warranty related? What BB guards can I get that won't give me this problem again, I would like something substantial like what the Camber comes standard with, that little extra weight is not an issue.
  10. Went through the exact same exercise and I came from a Epic i decided to go with a Scott 930, not the RC Scott is slacker, has a better spec and is lighter only thing i hate is all those damn cables, still need to sort mine out but loving the lockout so won't ever get rid of it Another thing to consider is that Specialized just updated the Epic's frame so the next frame to get a makeover is the Camber which many believe to be end of this year
  11. Thanks for all the info Jacquers Will definitely do one of the mayem races and the Crossways and JBay bike park looks like lots of fun, how safe is it though?
  12. Hazeldean is a good day out if you add the trails as part of a longer ride, its flat with very little technical challenges, nice for a beginner and very safe Rosemary i reckon has nicer singletrack
  13. I'm in PE the same time, I was initially thinking of leaving the bike at home but would like to sample some new trails In the link you posted the trails have very little ascent and descent I would like to try some of the more technical trails you guys have in PE and I don't mind climbing, I will also be riding solo so somewhere with lots of traffic or that is safe
  14. Hi all I'll be in Gordons Bay for part of my holidays and would like to join a MTB ride in Hermanus, please add me to your group 082 712 5081
