  1. I have a rim brake Bianchi. The calipers are 105 R7000. I have set up many brakes in my lifetime. The front brake lacks power and brakes drag instead of biting. I have the same calipers on my other bike with proper stopping power. I have tried everything with setting them up. Different wheels. Different pads. Toe in alignment. Different pad angles. Making sure everything is clean and not contaminated The bike is 2 months old so the cables are still new, The rear brakes are fine. Only the front brake performance is lacking Any suggestions?
  2. Werrienaughty. Did your hanger also break in the process?
  3. MTBrider. The wheel locked up as the deraileur was tangled between the spokes. The bike is 2 months old and was never dropped or crashed. It was the weirdest feeling ever as it caught me off guard.
  4. Screws were set and the derailleur never shifted too far up or down. Happened in the middle of the cassette without any gear changes
  5. I recently purchased a new Giant road bike that has done only 800kms. This morning on a flat road, riding a constant gear at a constant cadence the back wheel locked up catastrophically and nearly caused a huge crash. The derailleur was destroyed and jammed in between the spokes. Spokes broken. Chain twisted. I have never broken a hanger on any of my other bikes in the 6 years of riding. I never cross chain or shift under load. Have any Giant owners experienced issues with their hangers failing suddenly?
  6. I need some advice. After producing a big effort my bike started devoloping a loud creak which got louder and louder. It was clear that the BB had failed. However inspecting the bike at home I realised that the BB started pulling out of the threads of the frame on the top. Is the frame toast? Has anyone ever experienced this?
  7. Its non Boost. I will probably go with a 25mm DT Swiss
  8. The DT's and the Raceface will be an option but I'm a bit wary of Stans as my wheel cracks by the spoke nipples and 2 of my riding buddies have the same issues
  9. Thanks for the info. I want to upgrade mainly due to the rim cracking at the spoke nipples. Will stick to 2.25 tyres as clearance isnt as big as some other frames
  10. Thanks for the advice guys
  11. That is why I'm wordering how much larger the tyre will inflate on the wider rim
  12. Thanks Theo. Just worried about the size as my clearance at the rear is not very generous
  13. I want to upgrade my MTB wheels. Old wheel have a inner width of 23mm. I want to go with a 26mm inner width. How much will the extra width of the rim affect the tyre width?
  14. I don't think rim damage is likely but maybe damage to the bead of the tyre.
  15. I have also used Maxxis for 1000s of kms. They are quite bulletproof and mine lasted very long. I must admit I also had a issue with them blowing off the rim twice during setup. That is why I always do a dry run on much higher pressure to avoid a mess. I also found this happens when refitting used tyres as the old sealant dries on the bead. Some ride buddies swear by them, others say there is issues with them.
  16. Thanks guys, Looks good. From what I have seen is that Fox is far more generous than Rockshox with tyre clearance. I will then go with a Ardent Race 2.35 in front and a Rekon race 2.25 in the rear. Hope it is good enough for the Sani2C next year
  17. I want to run a Maxxis Ardent race 2.35. Apparently they measure 58mm on a 24mm inner width rim. My current Maxxis Ikon 2.35 measure 59mm on my rim. I checked the clearance with no air in the fork when it bottoms out and there is big clearance. Just not as much clearance on the sides
  18. MTBRIDER you are right. 760mm is the max wheel size. Max tyre is 81mm
  19. On Rockshox's Trailhead's app they state clearance of 760mm for the Recon with that serial number. Clearance was huge for my Maxxis Ikon 2.35. On my RS SID there's not much clearance that is why I started this thread. I guess I will have to measure it to see if there is a min of 6mm as Rockshox states. Don't understand why a premium fork will have less clearance than a budget fork. It just shows that you must check everything before you buy
  20. Thanks for the peace of mind
  21. Rockshox specifications state my fork allows max clearance for 60mm tyres which is 2.36in. Would it be safe to run 2.35 tyres. Wheels have an internal rim width of 23mm. It is a Rockshox SID select 2020 Clearance is a bit disappointing as my old Rockshox recon had max clearance for 761mm tyres.
