  1. Hi everyone so after chatting with some of you and going to a few shops finally came across a bike shop close to me that got some new stock in last week. Took the family there to go view and came home with 4 new Titans to start with. I attached some photos. 2 for the boys and 2 for the ladies. Went out for a ride on Saturday the moment they arrived as the place delivered for me after I bought them and went out on Sunday as well for a good ride. The kids and wife loved it.
  2. Hi guys Thanks for the advice. Yes I was warned right away from the beginning to stay away from the supermarket types and since then I got to doing research and am still digging up info before making a decision. Will check out Momsen as well... I did come across that as well. Later guys
  3. Hey guys just for some interest this Giant below was my first Giant when I was in high school Please forgive the use of the picture as this is someone elses I just wanted to show the model I first rode. Exact same colours. Brings back memories from those days.
  4. Thanks for the replies so far gents. I do understand it's more involved then the simple question I asked. I have the understanding of components also being of importance that the bikes are equipped with. From what I have gathered I am looking at probably R4k - R5k per bike for entry level just from the browsing I have done over the past few days. I have also made contact with several bike shops for quotes which I am waiting for. If I am not mistaken most of these bikes if not all are equipped with Shimano components when it comes to gear systems, brakes, derailleur etc however having different types of series. Forks, seats, handle bars, frame vary from model to model of course.
  5. Hi everyone Hope you are all well. So I have a question and would like your input. Been doing some digging since the first topic I posted and have come down to a few brands that I have been looking at for entry level to get started in obtaining some bikes for the family and wanted to know what you gents and ladies think of the list below what would be the top 3 to focus on: Avalanche Scott Giant Merida Silverback Titan GT Cannondale I am a Giant fan due to my experience with my first bike but have also taken a liking to Titan and Scott from what I found for entry level.
  6. Thanks guys much appreciated as I don't know the brand myself
  7. Thanks gents for the advice Would need to convince the wife on spending more if this is the case. Would love to get a few Giant MTB's again. Funny enough though my Giant MTB was also twist grip and I never had any problems with that bike. I loved riding every chance I got. What gear changing system would be recommended? Kind regards Henry
  8. Hi MorneS555 Yes that's the bikes. I tried to search but couldn't find much on them. Looks decent opposed to the type of bikes you find in places like Makro and the likes. I agree with you in the regard of the pass-me-downs that would spoil the fun and kill the motivation. My wife is committed so she will join me regardless. For the week rides and that sort of thing I thought these would be ok.
  9. Hi everyone Hope you are all well. New to the forum. Cycled for many years in my school days and will be getting back into it again. My family and I have decided to do this together as a team for leisure not professional lol. I remember many years of enjoyment and fitness when I was in high school with my giant MTB. I have been out of this game for a number of years but looking forward to getting back in it. Have also done some body building back in the days so have a strong sense and will for fitness. First up I posted a topic (hopefully in the right section) under Tech buying guide. If anyone has some advise on the topic I posted it would be greatly appreciated as I would like to start by getting some bikes. Thanks again.
  10. Hi everyone Hope you are all well. I am looking at getting back into the cycling routine but will be doing this as leisure with my family. I have been doing some looking around and wanted to get my 2 kids and wife some decent mountain bikes. From what I have read seems the Makro, Game, etc bikes are not a good way to go. You know Totem, Raleigh etc. I use to own a Giant MTB which was awesome and did me great pleasure in riding. I recently came across what I think is a good buy but not familiar with the brand "Gielang". It's a 26 inch Gielang R-350 MTB. Front suspension fork, Hard tail, discs brakes all round, V rims, from the photos looks shimano equiped with twist grip gear changing. 21 speed and the brakes look decent as well. I thought of getting these for my kids and wife as opposed to the cheap brands in the supermarkets. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. They going for about R2000. Thank you peeps!
