Believe me i'm we'll aware of it and it was a consideration when we named the event especially as it is gaining popularity in SA. I'm not new to this sport, i raced mtb for 17yrs both locally and abroad so im not new to terms on the scene. the word enduro fits our event, and unfortunately our racing is more mainstream, most of our local riders would never dream of actually racing a gravity Enduro, but instead of hating guys putting on events, help us grow the scene, it is events like these that could easily add and Enduro format (well as close as we can get in Gauteng) to an existing event. The Hub should be a place to promote events, ask advice, find news, but it takes something like this to actually get replies on an event page these days, guys aren't interested unless they can bring someone else down or complain about something.

If any of the haters on this thread actually race their bikes, I'll will give them a free entry to the event. You might actually enjoy it, and it help as training for your quest to be Enduro World Champion drop me a mail richard@ilumin8.co.za

we time every lap so you could see each lap as a stage then we are right in line. Enduro has a lot more links to Endurance (it is derived from the word) in motorbike terms than gravity mtb, as those races actually require endurance where as riding a short timed section downhill is much closer to an anaerobic effort than an endurance effort.

In Motobike terms for a long time, but "Enduro" bikes are used for "rally" type racing which is essentially marathon type racing, and i am pretty sure Enduro World magazine does not only cover "Enduro" racing otherwise they wouldn't sell a whole lot of magazines. In mountain biking probably only in the last year and in Gauteng mtb i can't think of any. So for the 3 people that get confused and disappointed when they click on the post you would think it had been a life time. Our name stands, like it or not, I am enjoying the debate though.

Any of you guys so sensitive about the name which we have used for 3 years actually raced in a "typcial" mtb Enduro?

Hi Skandalis I'm aware of the mx and now mtb enduro term but we have always used it as a shortened form of endurance. maybe one day as enduro gets bigger we will have to change the name but for now im sure people can figure it out.

Glad you guys enjoyed the race, the course was tough but i think a fair challenge. Good to have everyone there!

Yip they got a big bonus, saw some of the MX guys making use of the track on Sat, probably none the wiser what had gone down during the week.

There were 6 photographers out on course, i think they have identified about 5000 pics already and loading more as they go. keep checking on the action photo site, glad you guys and girls enjoyed our trails out there!

Glad you guys enjoyed the race and route, took 2 months to put it together and the rain 1 day to stuff it up but we got it back to good enough shape in the end. Singlespeed cat is a must, second time a singlespeed rider has come third overall in the event.

Who is coming to the 12hr this weekend? Going to be 12hrs of great racing!

Number collections will take place at Trappers Fourways Crossing at the following times: Friday 7th September- 10h00-17h30 Saturday 8th September- 8h30-13h00 *A R50 cash number board deposit will be required at registration, the cash will be given back to you at the finishline.
