  1. Yes big up and thanks for being out there at night, good to know if we had momentary loss of talent, thr was someone around...
  2. Its abit of a long shot, but do you smoke Hubbly? I find if I smoke a hub or two the night before a ride it sets in(sonmetimes paired with a cold wind).... But since I've got fitter its dissapeared...?
  3. Yeah hey the bikes fine, managed to keep it from falling off the bridge... And everything felt fine cycling back to the parking... For any of you wondering, chainring vs acheilies, chain rings always win... I'm out till friday to cycling if I wanna make the 12 hour on Sat... Anyone at the Varsity College 12hr, ill be the guy wit stiches on the 29er... Atleast the scar will look like I got ankle tapped by a lion! And in a few months Fountains will be green and muddy!!!! Can't wait!
  4. They were burning Fountains earlier, and take my word for it don't go over the bridges! I went over it and one of the supports gave way and needless tosay I'm typing this frm a Little Company of Mary hospital beds getting stiches! Hahaha noty fun......
  5. I put in 200ml each and its perfect, maybe a lil much but I think its good... I live on Gauteng and don't care much for thorns and repairs so its worth it... But ya it all depends on your terain... Thorny? I'd say go 200ml, soft and peaty, I'd say even 150ml....
  6. Dude I'm 2.05m and about90kgs and im on a 29er and i love it, finds it suits us taller riders well.... dont cut the 29 stable out of the equation..... My mate (1.9m) just bought himself a new Momsen AL129 and its a great bike, cost him under R6K.... check it out, it was a great bike to ride, even after coming off my Dual suspension 29er....
  7. Guy there's a 3/6/12 hour team and solo race out in Muldersdrift (Avianto) on the 1st of October, its bound to be a lot of fun, racing starts at 10 so there'll be about 4hrs of night riding at the end... Is anyone doing this race? I've entered in a group of 4, with 2 strong riders and 2 noobs, what can we expect? What type of stuff should we bring along? Its all of our first event of this nature (we've only done Trailseekers and the like) Any insight or advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks Mike
  8. Did Fort Klapper kop on the MTB this morn, it seemed like it hit half of groenies, from the R21 locked wooden gate up, and between the onion hill mountain and R21.... Everything seems fine and under control, I'm sure the Zebs and Impi will have been fine, but worried about the kudu getting cornered in the woodlands....
  9. My Favourite rule of thumb is : Find a gearing ratio where u feel your legs working the go down a gear.... Usually works for me....
  10. What type of speeds do you want to do?
  11. Most obviouse reason would be: Less red blood cells means less haemotonin, thus less oxygen capacity in the blood, so your muscles don't get full supply of oxygen... The avg guy has 7 litres, majority of it is your torso
  12. In that price range 2nd hand will probably be your best bet, the guys on here 'generally' love the sport and their bikes too, so you can pick up a decent bike for that money... Or else check out the Merida 300s, they are very competant bikes IMO! You're also at the best time, look for Clearance sales of the 2011 range....
  13. I've used both camelback, Deuter and Mr Price bladders, the camelback is good, but over all the Deuter is the best IMO it has the best mouth piece and fills easily and doesn't leak, my dog ripped it up while hanging on the line drying, so I bought the Mr Price and simply 'transplanted' the Deuter mouth piece and it all works perfectly, so I'd say go for Mr Price and get a better mouth piece....
  14. I have experienced exactly the same while riding this morning, there is a very subtle change between settings, perhaps the flood gate rages between 40 and 60% open? Is it not perhaps just the RT3?
  15. I am riding with a RS Recon Silver, hav e tried my friends Fox with the 15mm thru axle, much the same feel, but the thru axle just gives one better piece of mind in my opinion....
