  4. Hey guys At the end of the month I am importing a thing called a freebord,it looks like a skateboard but you can carve like on a snowboard. 15 second video of it in action can be found here I am looking for protective gear like Elbow and shin pads as well as a BMX Helmets. I really don't mind whether they are for skateboarding or for MTBing I am just wanting to find out where I can buy protective gear from. Where locally can I buy this gear and how much is it? Should I rather buy the protective gear from CRC and add the customs tax onto it? The only problem is the high custom duties on protective gear Any help well be appreciated
  5. Went and cycled at fountains valley on Monday and you could definitely get mugged there, there were a lot of construction workers on the left side where the guatrain construction is. I almost smashed into a blue mercedes benz that was parked on a single track with two people in the back and cloths hanging over the front seats. Was not fun having to pick my bike up and walk around them going into the bush. So I think if there was an attack it would have been ether outside or maybe fountains valley but I highly doubt that it would have happened in the reserve. Groenkloof has pretty high fences that are maintained because of the animals and I have never had a problem there nor have I seen any one doggy walking around besides cyclists, workers and hikers.
  6. I Do not know about the HTC snap but for my iphone I use RunKeeper pro which works pretty well. After each ride it automatically uploads the data to runkeeper.com and you are able to view your distance, duration, average pace, your track on a map, average speed, calories burned and your climb. With RunKeeper you are also able to export the map in the GPX format or for google earth. You can also share you activity, for example here is a activity I did:http://runkeeper.com/user/EdwinWatson/activity/12966638 And yes I know I am slow and lazy I don't ride much its something I enjoy doing once in a while not like you hard core rider I have just ordered a velotrac phone mount, its like a little pouch that you put your phone in. Unfortunately the devise does not sit on your handle bars but rather on the frame. This is fine with me because my iphone is everything to me and I feel having it on the frame is just a bit dangerous. http://velotrac.com/images/stories/demo/rokstories/rs2.jpg I am sure your devise will be able to slide into the pouch, there may be a gap on the side but it will work if you cant find anything else When I get the mount I will tell you if it is worth the price however I only payed $36.84 USD for it and that includes shipping so if it is not great I wont be to upset. I have read a few good reviews about it and apparently its pretty good. I am just worried about my leg's hitting it but I don't think that's going to be a problem.
  7. Hi River rat,I have Mountain Biked in both Fountains and Groenkloof! It is a excellent place to MTB however I thought a change would be nice Thanks for the info on the DH Track,I did walk down it a bit, there are some great jumps on that track if you have the right bike and experiment which I wish I did!
  8. Hey all,I am new to this forum and very amped about finding it.The site is definitely jam packed with a lot of quality content and trail information that I did not know about. I am not a avid cyclist but I do enjoy doing a MTB trail once in a while for a bit of extra exercise and obviously the slight shot of adrenaline you get on that downhill. This morning after dropping a friend off at TUKS I decided to take a trip up to Klapperkop to see what Trails where there to MTB on after reading about them on here. I only found one trail which is from the looks of things for Down Hill Mountain Biking. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s186/splinter_watsup/MTBDownhill.jpg?t=1279546514 Other than this trail I could not really distinguish any other trails however once getting home and looking on google earth I noticed a number of dirt tracks around the area but a lot of them patter out at the end of them. Can anybody point out a good MTB Trail to do at klapperklop by explaining or marking it on Google earth? I am really interested in routes you guys take however I do know the best way to learn the way of the land is to take a bike there and ride it for yourself,I just don't know where to start! Thanks in advance
