  1. It seems consensus exist that Thule is the bench mark in towbar bike racks...however , please advise on your views regarding other makes like Double D , Holdfast and Buzzracks please.., some are 50% cheaper thanThule ...and surely cannot be that bac... or is it a case cheap = poor quality here

I would strongly recommend the Thule. If you can be patient they do pop up on the HUB.

If I can give you some advice. Whatever rack you decide on make sure your exhaust does not blow onto the bike as exhaust heat has destroyed a few races and holidays. :w00t: The Thule has deflector plates which can be bought but as an extra.

    Good luck

  2. I am thinking about purchasing a Top Fuel 9.8 SL.  Anybody here riding one?  I would love some feedback.

It is an amazing bike and have had Spez, Santa Cruz, and a Scott before this. Did a small upgrade and added a dropper and replaced the front tire with a Team Issue XR 2 and it make a difference.

A very comfortable fast bike and the rear suspension really works as it says. Also very fast in singles. Despite only having a Fox 100mm up front it does not feel sketchy at all on fast singles and actually allows you to push harder, if that makes any sense. You wont regret it but try a test bike as we are all different.

  3. Purple Extreme - no question.

Just struggle to find stockists of this...

thanks, I presume its the same application procces of "a drop" per link, wating a few minutes to allow access and wiping off the excess. do you get any grime build up?

  4. I don't wish to start a lube debate but are there any new chain lube's which are worth trying. I ride in try dusty areas. I clean my bike after every ride and give the chain a good wipe down and re lube.

I've been served well by Clean Ride, the old white Lightning which has a wax base.No chain suck, dropped chains etc. and its clean. I noticed recently there was a wax build up and despite all the efforts with a degreaser the wax was stubborn and never came off and started the long ardious process of using a tooth pick and eventually got all the wax off.

Would the Epic Ride be a better proposition or are there any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  5. Hi George

I had crossmarks front and rear and upgraded to racing ralphs front and rear, i noticed a little more noise on tar but not much, they roll easier at high speed. I sent my rear wheel in for repairs and they gave me a loan rear wheel with a Rocket Ron tyre. i found my rear wheel sliding on roots and in the mud. Not happy with the Rocket Ron tyre at all.

Go for Racing Ralphs all the way.

Sorry, I missed your post but thanks for replying. I've done exactly that and gone for R/R, evo, s/s.   Still not 100% but am sure this has to do with tire pressure. running 1.7 raer and 1.6 front.

    Thanks again.

  6. In MTB events we all try to get into some rhythm going and there is always a dash to enter the single track first. However who has the right of way once you have entered a narrow single track?

The guy/girl who enters the single track first?

    or

The guy/girl who shouts "rider coming" - are you expected to stop pull your bike over and let the rider through?

  7. Georges,

    Find a long room.

Mark your wheel and the floor with a bit of tape or something similar.

Line up the tape on the wheel with the tape on the floor.

Slowly ride along the room and stop when the tape on the wheel reaches the floor again.

Mark that spot and measure between the two marks.

If you are lucky enough to have a long enough area for more than one revolution then your measurement accuracy increases.

I do it sitting on the bike with my normal tyre pressure just to be sure I get the most accurate result I can.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

  8. Measure it yourself since wear might make it less or more...depending on condition.

OR do what most of us do and just let the GPS calculate your distance...its not out by much

Did this but I checked out of curiosity and found it showed 2096 which is incorrect.

    thanks.

  9. I was wondering if anyone is riding with one of these units. Im looking to get one as it wont break the bank and seems to offer most of the main features im looking for in a GPS unit i.e speed, distance, ascent etc.

Not really intrested in power meters and HR monitors.

Does anyone have any complaints, opinions on the unit ?

    Thanks.

Check this out. Its all you need to know

  10. Upgraded to 27.5 Scott Spark and was very happy with Maxxis Crossmax (UST/Lust) rear and Monorail (UST/Lust) on the front on the 26er also a dual suspension bike. Never had a puncture or cut tire but paid the weight penalty.

Did some research and went for Schwalbe Nobby Nic (Evo, Snakeskin, Pacestar TLR) and converted then to tubeless with sealant and no problems. They grip well but don't roll as well as the Maxxis and are a very noisy tire. I want a hassle free no punctures low rolling resistane tire for XC and light trails. I

In the Scwalbe range which is the better of the 2 for my riding Racing Ralph or Rocket Ron?

Any suggestions of any other brand would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  11. Hi,

I'm looking for some guidance please. Is there a difference between a oversized 31.8mm and a 31.8mm stem for m/biking?

For example Ritchey WCS C-260 oversize 31.8mm is the stem on the Scott 700 RC but no mention of" oversized" in the Ritchey website on the C-260 stem.

    Thanks.

  12. The closure has nothing to do with Specialized.

It is us withholding funds because we are not happy with branding going up at our expense. I have nothing against Scott (other than their ambush marketing).

The funds were used for maintenance on all trails, regardless who built them in the first place.

All trails will be inspected and a decision taken in conjunction with the powers in charge on dangerous or potential dangerous trails or sections.

If a trail is considered not dangerous it will remain open.

Only sections / trails that is considered dangerous or potentially dangerous to the riders will be closed.

    This all about Specialized!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have missed out on a marketing opportunity to their opposition and now placing your under pressure by withholding funding. You in turn are trying to hold the greater biking community at ransom. Not a good tactic and doing more damage to the brand.
