  9. I would think really carefully about the Captain Controls. Used them for one stage on the 2009 Epic and rolled noticeably more difficult than those we ended up amongst daily in the start shute. DEFINITELY sucked significantly more out of my legs just to complete the stage... This year using Fast Tracks - as they: roll really well, but are still very reliable handles good & bad surfaces and even wet/muddy conditions as good as anything else I've ridden do not change their behaviour suddenly as you veer into corners and can by fitted onto or removed from tubeless rims almost without the use of tyre levers. Pedals = Look S-Track Enjoy !
  10. Some more info The Western Cape plays host to the 2014 African Continental Cross-Country and Downhill Championships, taking place in Durbanville on 25 and 26 January 2014. The cross-country (XCO) will take place at the Slammer Track at the Willowbridge Shopping Centre on Saturday 25 January, with the downhill (DHI) discipline on the slopes of Contermanskloof on Sunday 26 January. Any riders wishing to participate can enter, as Cycling SA-MTB has confirmed that there will not be a participation quota. Online pre-entries are open, and riders can enter online here via the CSA website (www.cyclingsa.com). Online pre-entries close on Tuesday 21 January 2014. Late entries will be accepted at registration for both the XCO and DHI, at an additional charge of R50 per entry.
  11. Okay, in view of the fact that a "purple storm" now looks imminent & unavoidable for this weekend and particularly tomorrow, in the interest of safety the organisers of the WC XCO Champs have resolved to postpone tomorrow's event, rather than to risk life and limb of everyone but the most ghung-ho of competitors. Communications will go out to all those entered. 15th June looks like the most likely date. Same venue. Will confirm & post update.
  12. Here's the latest race schedule. WC MTB XCO Champs Programme.pdf Beware: This track, the XCO format and the conditions forecasted for Saturday is not for sissies. But then again, we don't have a lot of sissies in Africa . Hope this helps.
