  4. Event Name: Nine To Five Mountain Bike Team Relay Challenge When: 25 September 2017 Where: Delvera Farm, Western Cape Category: MTB EIGHT HOURS OF SPRING MOUNTAIN BIKING NEAR STELLENBOSCH Back by popular demand! The Nine-to-Five Mountain Bike Team Relay event will take place from Dirtopia’s home base at Delvera farm on the public holiday -Monday, 25 September 2017. The event started in 2008 and creates a social atmosphere at the start/finish and a 7km lap that riders can ride for the full 8 hours (or not) to see how many laps they can do in the day. Solo riders, teams of two and teams of 4 riders can bring support crew to help them win the several categories. Normal ENTRY COSTS starts from R200 per rider to R300 per rider, depending on the category with discount to Amarider members. Entries close on Thursday, 21 September 2017. It is not necessary for team members to ride in sequence and one team member can do as many consecutive laps as they like. There should however not be more than a four lap difference between the rider with the most laps and the rider with the least number of laps at the end of the event. The route is easy enough for riders across all levels and fast laps will ensure lots of activity in the transition area. This is a very social event with friends and family supporting the riders and enjoying the facilities at this beautiful winelands venue. Only pre-entries are taken so get your teams together – categories include: Open, Mixed and Junior. A percentage of the entry fee will go towards the Simonsberg Conservancy for permits. MORE ABOUT ENDUROS: The concept Based on the successful Mavic Trans Provence concept the idea is to bring riding and the results linked to it back to mountain biking and away from the current endurance-only formats. That said, it is not the idea to make the race highly technical as per downhill racing, but simply to focus the competition on the trails component of the sport. And yes, perhaps your skinny tire 29’er carbon hardtail is perhaps not the best choice of bike, although the course will certainly be rideable on it! At the Dirtopia Enduro, you’ll still be climbing. We will make most of the jeeptracks and roads ‘neutral’ or ‘liaison’ sections with singletrack downhills the timed stages. The overall descent of the race will be more than the uphill. Support Waterpoint with fruit, Red Bull, nuts & jellies etc will be placed at a strategic point (Pepper Tree) to assist with rider support. The beauty of the format is that you can relax a bit at this station and catch your breath before tagging into the next Special Stage. 16. Event Name: Fairtree Simonsberg Contour - 2 Day MTB Stage Race When: 4 February 2017 - 5 February 2017 Where: Delvera Farm, Western Cape Category: MTB Second annual Fairtree Simonsberg Contour promises even better riding. After the devastating fire of January 2016, the inaugural Fairtree Simonsberg Contour MTB stage race overcame serious challenges and presented riders with a premier winelands riding experience. In February 2017, Fairtree Capital in collaboration with the Simonsberg Conservancy, landowners and Stellenbosch event organisers Dirtopia, will present riders with the 2nd edition of ‘The Fire Ride’ where riders will get a chance to experience the recovering Simonsberg Conservancy. The 2017 event is set to take place on the 4th & 5th of February 2017. The Fairtree Contour has been created to continue the development of mountain biking routes and expose the incredible network of single-track trails on the SImonsberg Mountain. With over 25km of mountain single-track, connecting more than 10 wine estates, the region is set to become a hotspot for mountain bike trail riders. Dirtopia has spent the last 3 years developing new routes on Delheim and Muratie wine estates. These trails are now operated in partnership with the landowners and the Greater Simonsberg Conservancy being the primary beneficiary. The conservancy represents more than 20 farms around the mountain and is currently focused on a multi-million rand alien clearing project to return large tracts of the mountain to fynbos and renosterveld. In terms of routing; rout designer Meurant Botha says riders can look forwards to even more new trails for the 2017 race. Primarily, last year’s rerouted stage 1 will be redesigned to incorporate more of the Simonsberg with the emphasis on making it the faster, easier rout of the two. Sunday’s Queen Stage returns with new trails to eliminate one or two of the lung-busting vineyard climbs and replace them with flowing trails. The trial team is set to start construction in October, gearing up for a hot summer of building. While the final route will be launched later this year, riders can expect daily stages of 55-60km each with around 1500m of elevation. Botha emphasised that the focus will be on a fun, trail experience, a perfect opener for the stage race season. The daily 40km option allows less fit trail fanatics to enjoy the riding experience. There is no better time to be out in the winelands as harvest season will be in full swing in surrounding vineyards. Each participant will receive the following: Event t-shirt Goody bag Morning coffee, breakfast snack and daily lunch buffet Daily bike wash & lube service BOS Sport will continue as the events hydration partner. Riders can look forwards to enjoying the BOS range at the refreshment stations and finish area. The refreshment stations were a huge hit with the riders in 2016, fully stocked with a wide range of savoury snacks and fruit. Delvera Farm, well known for its family friendly atmosphere, will be the host venue where visitors can expect to kids entertainment, showers, a massage service, craft beer and of course tasting the regions award winning wines. Entries: Long option (60km/day): R925 in total for both days Short option (40km/day):R800 in total for both days Click here to enter www.dirtopia.co.za from 4th October. Entries will be limited to 600 riders. For more info, contact Dirtopia at info@dirtopia.co.za or 021 884 4752 Go to Event Page

Join the DIRTOPIA ALL MOUNTAIN ENDURO group on Facebook to stay updated on all events and info MORE ABOUT ENDUROS: Dirtopia has organised fifteen Enduro events since 2012 and the focus is on the riding and having fun on the trails. The concept Based on the successful Mavic Trans Provence concept the idea is to bring riding and the results linked to it back to mountain biking and away from the current endurance-only formats. That said, it is not the idea to make the race highly technical as per downhill racing, but simply to focus the competition on the trails component of the sport. And yes, perhaps your skinny tire 29’er carbon hardtail is perhaps not the best choice of bike, although the course will certainly be rideable on it! At the Dirtopia Enduro, you’ll still be climbing and even be timed on some of these sections. We will make most of the jeeptracks and roads ‘neutral’ or ‘liaison’ sections. You will still be required to ride these. The overall descent of the race will be more than the uphill. Support Waterpoint with fruit, nuts etc will be placed at a strategic point to assist with rider support. The beauty of the format is that you can relax a bit at this station and catch your breath before tagging into the next Special Stage.
