  1. Why didn't you tell us earlier you had a masters?? We would have instantly stopped having our opinion and agreed with you.
  2. More like beef pies have been told in the article. The Beef Checkoff Program is a producer-funded marketing and research program designed to increase domestic and/or international demand for beef.
  3. Not sure why you need to be so aggressive but anyway. No, I do my best to avoid imported products. I trust you also avoid ordering from overseas (CRC, Wiggle etc) just because they are cheaper? There seems to be this expectation that somehow vegans are perfect, which is obviously not the case. I'm sure there are areas where I could reduce my carbon footprint further, but the fact is that in a busy life that is not always possible. I, like many others, do the most I can. I don't judge people for eating meat or think anything less of them. We each make choices based on our values and beliefs. Live and let live.
  4. Respectfully disagree.
  5. I think you'll find the primary reason tick cream is put on cows is because they are an expensive investment and to minimise unnecessary complications. I very much doubt cows, like most wild animals, would go extinct due to a lack of tick cream.
  6. Please tell me you're joking with this comment
  7. Out of interest, are you concerned about your carbon footprint?
  8. I try to reduce my environmental footprint, but I'm fully aware I cannot eliminate it.
  9. Cheers for that, will definitely have a look after work.
  10. Honestly, leather is a hard one for me because it doesn't crack like synthetic leather and lasts much longer. Still, my personal choice is I don't use it if I can avoid it and so far I have been able to. I have not had to buy work shoes for a while so will need to look at my options then. I have several pairs of On Running shoes which are vegan fortunately...
  11. .
  12. And it floats
  13. No sidestepping, neither my wife nor I use leather products any more. Funnily enough, a year later and I'm still clothed and breathing.
  14. Speaking for myself, veganism has required adjustment to my diet and the products I buy. But there's a difference between adjustment and compromise. I have adjusted my lifestyle, not compromised. People stand up for causes they believe in, I would not call it silly or trivialise it.
  15. Check out the Vegan Cyclist on YouTube, good channel and that dude pumps out a good number of watts on a vegan diet: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpn6aFvwAI_hK9WuHcdvQGA Back to work now, have a good one all
  16. For the next 17 years, I ate grains, produce, legumes, and fake meat products like those Morningstar bacon strips that have a lower nutritional value than cat food. And for the next 17 years, it seemed like I was always hungry no matter how large my bowl of beans and rice. Even worse than constant hunger, I didn't seem to enjoy food the way other people did. Eating was a chore, like folding laundry or paying bills, but even more annoying because if I didn't do it I would die. I was sick of being hungry, I was sick of beans and rice. Sounds like he was in a Vietnamese prison for 17 years vs living as a free man, no wonder he cracked! I see that article is 4 years old, I promise you the quality and range of meat and dairy alternatives is significantly different nowadays
  17. Our vegan diet does not require supplements, everything we need nutritionally is incorporated into our diet. Regardless of whether you are a meat eater or vegan, healthy food will require some effort. As I have mentioned before on various threads here, the food we eat is delicious and is as tasty as any of the meat dishes I have eaten. But, it takes preparation like any healthy meal and my wife puts in effort to find recipes and she is always experimenting with new flavours etc. I don't know about SA, but in the UK just about every coffee shop will offer soy as an alternative to milk and most restaurants will have vegan options so we don't struggle when we're out and about.
  18. Bought a Garmin 935 Tri Bundle at a good price in the BF specials.
  19. Cheers, yup it can be adjusted, there's a rubber cover that slides up the seat post to give access to the allen bolt.
  20. Many thanks Andrew!
  21. Bought this a while ago but haven't had a chance to post, colour changes to purple at different angles. Doing my bit to keep rim brake bikes around.
  22. If you're going to start a topic that will cause debate and disagreement, at least be mature enough not to be insulting and sarcastic.
  23. That doesn't even make sense.
  24. If you don't want the opinion of 'keyboard warrior experts', perhaps next time don't start a thread asking for people's opinions?
  25. Not really, there are plenty of unbiased news articles showing the scale at which veganism is growing and it is not a fad. And the vegan food options and alternatives these days are so good it really only comes down to people not being prepared to try it. I can say with hand on my heart that my vegan meals are as good, if not better, than my previous meat diet. My wife made a vegan sticky toffee pudding this weekend - you would not know the difference.
