  1. Cut-off times ~ well thats self explanatory. The rules state that riders must complete the route within 7 hours. This would be 7 hours from the start of their group. The probable reason for this is that rider support and road closures need to be removed by a certain time in order for the CTCT to comply with the permissions that they have been given by the various powers that be. There are many that stop along the route for a coffee/lunch, take in the scenery, just chill but that does not negate from the fact that 7 hours is the deadline. Extreme circumstances have in the past given reason to extend again with permission no doubt from the powers that be to extend this deadline as was done in 2009. The 5pm was probably from previous years when the last group went of at 10am. As to ebikes, there are many many riders that do pretty much most of the route in the weeks leading up to the CTCT...perhaps ebike riders should take those opportunities to fulfill their dreams of riding round the Cape. If you need an ebike to finish the tour or make it easier then perhaps you should either not be doing this particular tour or maybe, just maybe put in some effort and training before the tour and do it on your own steam. One can become relatively cycling fit just riding on the weekends leading up to the tour with your local club or doing the local events.
  2. Would be interesting to compare the results from this year to that of 2009 and 2010
  3. "We believe wind conditions will not be as strong as in 2009, but they will nevertheless be severe". And it sure was bad that year
  4. They have extended cut-off times before depending on circumstances, and strong winds could be one of them
  5. When looking at the various weather and wind sites for spots around the Peninsula...for Sunday from 30km/h south easter gusting to around 40+km/h pretty much everywhere from Cape Town to Cape Point and back
  6. Everybody say Hooplah ! Getting super excited even though member of the 21 club Just hope the wind plays ball Carbon29er --- really dig your avi
  7. 2017 entry completed and paid for....22nd CTCT here I come
  8. Entry confirmation received....    21 club here I come
  9. "Successful general entry applicants will be notified by Friday, 2 October at 1pm and will have until Monday, 26 October at 1pm to make payment and secure their entry." Almost time for us (non PPA) plebs to find out if our entry was approved
  10. Hmmmm, looks like my entry to the 21 club is not guaranteed by an early entry option
  11. Also looks like all the finishers would be getting a sub 3 cause there is a 3 hour cut-off
  12. Looks like the kiddies Argus will be longer than the main event....trollalalalalalahhh Ok, jokes aside, lets go out there and enjoy it. Don't forget black armband on the right for the lost cycling souls and red on the left in solidarity for the efforts of our wonderful firepeople
  13. Hmmmm, interesting but unfortunate dilema that the CTCTT has to deal with. While I am all for the solidarity/sympathy of the current situation that many in the Southern Peninsula are facing as a result of the fires as well as the amazing efforts being put in by the firefighters and other emergency service personnel, 47 Km is hardly "an Argus" Why not turn it into a mass safety awareness ride both for the efforts of the emergency service people as well as for safe cycling....not sure how to get this going in such a short time but I am sure it can be done.... Perhaps this will also give the CTCTT an opportunity to come up with additional alternate routes (perhaps heading north). Well I suppose my 20th Argus (CTCT) will be the year of the 47km solidarity ride.
