  1. I'm running the Mavic Charge 650B on my Spicy. Replaced the Hans Damph Pacestar on the front with this and it has amazing grip. On the back I've stuck with the HD Pacestar and that's perfect for the back. Seems like the bike rolls a bit slower with the Charge as it's a very soft compound but the grip is well worth it.
  2. Don't know where those figures are from but on www.lapierrebicycles.com the chainstay lengths on the Spicy and Zesty are the same. Did not mean to start a debate around it. Bottom line is that I'm having fun on the bike and that is all that matters.
  3. The 2014 650B Spicy and Zesty use the same frame and the only difference in geometry is because of the different fork length. Top tube, chainstays rear travel etc are identical. The older model Spicy and Zesty had different geometry.
  4. My new bike came with Elixer 7 Trail brakes and these things are fantastic. Took a ride or two to bed in and the power is great. Had Elixer 5's on my previous bike and always liked the feel but the new Trails have a lot more power.
  5. Thanks. The Spicy uses a 160 fork and the Zesty a 150 and that's where the head angle difference comes in. Bottom line though is that it rides like a dream!
  6. Just picked my new machine up this week from Jason and Mark at Good2Go. 2014 Lapierre Spicy 527 with 160 Rockshox Pike RTC3. There were no more large Spicy's available so they built the XL they had over onto a large Zesty frame for me as both bikes share the same frame. Bit of a wolf in sleeps clothing now. This bike pedals like a XC bike and descends like a DH bike! So happy I decided on this bike and setup.
  7. I have this Magura Gustav M brake assembly, only the one though. Very powerful brake with great modulation. It's big and heavy though.

  9. Was so awesome to be there to witness Greg's win. So much pressure for him and pulls of such a brilliant win on home soil!
  10. I bought 2 x pairs the other day from Greg Minnaar Racing and did Dusi2C with them. Was very comfortable for me. As mentioned they are quite tough too. I use them for downhill as well.
  11. Yes Nigel blue commencal. He had some proper pace
  12. If I remember correctly the elites was 1st Tiaan Odendal 2nd Tim Bentley and 3rd Alister Fay.
  13. I was so bummed I took myself out in practice and could not race. Really had fun on the track last weekend. Who was on the Commencal? He was looking really good on his race runs! Well done Aubrey on your result!
  14. Knee could be better Grebel. Ended up in the ER Sat night. Aubrey dropped me of at home and I could not even walk into the house. After some x rays, meds and a set of cruthces I'm better. Seeing the Ortho tomorrow to check ligaments etc. House the shoulder Grebel? Oh and one more casualty was Aubrey's bike. Cracked rear end.
