Hi All I'm planning my first bike touring trip for December. Anybody newbies interested to join me ? Will need only the basic equipment as I am planning to stay over at campsites with facilities.

I just bought a self-inflating mattress from Tentco. It weighs 3.58kg but it's 10cm thick. Is the weight worth it when bike touring ?

Looking at where the "crack" starts and ends it looks funny, as it it should start in the welding toe. If you are willing to polish away the paint you can do a quick dye-penetrant test. If you in the Alberton/Germiston area let me know.

Thanks for all the answers. I liked this feedback. This is exactly how I will be starting. Same distances. First one maybe from Springs (Jhb) to Hennopspride, next day Harties and then 2 days back in some way. Or someone to pick me up.
