Old thread but I just bought the Square with plus tires. Might as well add a couple of comments:
1. Bike handles the rock gardens (& jungles) prevalent in the Magalies very well. The plus tires were the reason why I bought this bike 2nd hand and I was not disappointed. Took it to ride Pofadder this morning and the trail was a breeze downhill.
2. The head angle is a bit steep but the big tires are very forgiving, never felt any sense of unease even in the steep sections of the trail.
3. Weight? Yeah it is not a xc bike, feels lighter than it really is and actually climbs extremely well due to the 3" tires and the rather stiff suspension
4. Tires? They do slip if you take a corner at an angle, had that happen a couple of times. Better be careful.
Overall a very nice trail bike that performs better than expected. Don't really understand why plus tires have become a rarity, they are a lot of fun on the trail as long as you are not chasing seconds.
