  1. Seriously expensive for what you get... this Glacier Treverse race / ride has always been expensive, even before they moved it to Summerplace. You can rather book a weekend, stay in great accommodation and ride the trails in your own time and pace. Summerplace is amazing mountain bike weekend destination, I have stayed there many times... and the riding even better.
  2. Stolen: Specialized Epic Expert 2023 When: 01/07/2023Where: , Bush Hill, Randburg, GautengBrand new Specialized Epic Expert with GX AXS and a 32T oval chain ringGet further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section.
  3. Not sure if this is the right forum... I recently had a new bike Trek Top Fuel 9.8 AXS (total of 597 kms) serviced at the abovementioned shop. The only reason I took the bike for a service, I had just ridden Wines2whales and currently live outside of SA. I didnt want to have an issue with the bike while I was out of country for three months (the country I live in has no bike shops). Anyway, the workshop manager spoke a good story, but in the end messed my bike up worse than I gave it to them. The bike was never serviced, the AXS messed up, the frame is chipped, I am guessing they dropped the bike as the rear derailleur is bent. The AXS battery cover was not returned, I only noticed this when I got back to my destination. R4000.00 later, they replaced pivots, BB's, they wanted to replace fork seals too, I said no to that. After receiving my bike back is this condition, I spoke to the shop owner, he denied everything and told me to bring the bike back... they had it for almost 1.5 days. I wasn't prepared to let them mess it up more... now I sit 7000 kms away with a ^&*0'ed up bike. I messaged Trek USA, but I am guessing Trek SA is blocking anything from getting through as I suspect there is a link with the shop.
  4. Anyone else out there having problems with a Trek Top Fuel 9.8 ? The bike has Shimano XT, the gears have jumped from day one, had different people look at it... the bike frame creaks and groans like an old man, especially on technical terrain. I bought this bike from Bicycle Line in Boksburg, I asked them to make sure the bike was 100% before I got a friend to collect it as I dont live in SA anymore. I have always preferred SRAM, should have stuck with my initial gut-feel to get them to change the gearing. I have had nothing but nonsense with this bike, I am trying to see if it is a Trek "thing" or the bike wasnt setup properly by the bike shop...
  5. There is a fine line between "legally" right, stupid and what is fair and equitable. This bike is six months old, not six years old... one would expect a high value marque to want to protect its name in the market when the paint starts peeling off. I am reliably told this is a Santa Cruz trait. The bottom line is I had to go to social media to get a resolution, I did tell them I would do so if there wasnt a resolution, but, at least there is a resolution now!
  6. Rush Sports have agreed to resolve the problem...
  7. The bike is not even six months old and the paint is peeling off... if this happened after six years, absolutely, it is my problem. No rocks have hit the area... just crap workmanship.
  8. The point is, they do... this bike is six months old!
  9. So the whole process started with the US who agreed to send a new frame. Rush Sports are the ones saying lifetime warranty first owner... my point is, one would not expect the clear coat to peel off after 6 months, lifetime warranty or not! if the bike was six years old and not six months, agreed... but the bike is brand new, hardly ridden...
  10. So would you expect the clear coat to peel off after 6 months... lifetime warranty or not? Tells me Santa Cruz dont trust their product... Trek definitely does honour second owner!
  11. Not very happy with the organiser... Wynand de Villiers I think is his name. We were scheduled to ride in May, flew to Cpt, etc. To be told the day before they had cancelled the event due to rain forecast... he then politely said we could use the acc at Pearl Valley at his cost. He then moved the event to the same weekend as Ride the Karoo, so we asked him for our money back. He refunded us R2900 of the R6800 we had paid, not forgetting airfares, rental cars, etc. I complained, he said we used the accommodation (which was supposed to be his gift to us for cancelling on the day). These event organizers are becoming a law unto themselves... if they are not affiliated to CSA, nothing you can do...
