  1. Stolen: Giant TCR 2016 When: 19 December 2020 Where: Cape Town, Western Cape Bike was stolen from a backyard area at night. Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section
  2. Thanks for the comments guys. Looks like even polite behaviour isn't enough! And even other cyclists get treated with aggression. Aggressive behaviour is the issue? How about we take photos of the aggro riders - its never acceptable to behave like this - post the photos here - and contact their bike clubs/shops/kit sponsors and let them know the behaviour going on. Might not help much, but could have an effect. Dogs and children running about are a feature of park riding - how about a code of riding conduct - slow right down, call out a loud greeting - 'howzit!' or 'hello!' and ride as if the dog/child will run in front of you. If you're in the park for serious downhill training, you are in the wrong place, surely? Again, this behaviour is not from the majority of riders.
  3. Hi All It seems that some of the MTB riders in many of the Jozi parks are putting pedestrians in the parks at risk. There seems to be little regard by SOME MTBikers for people walking on or near the paths the MTBers wish to ride. From personal experience, some of the bikers are bombing past people walking in the park, passing dangerously close and not adjusting their riding to minimise risk to pedestrians. The vehicle with the highest energy, in this case the bikers, which would pose the greatest risk in a collision, should yield. Further, when a rider approaches a pedestrian from behind, shouting "Get off the ******* path", goodwill, respect and other civilities are minimised. Pepper spray comes to mind... What should the pedestrians do? What should the riders do?

  6. Hi steve That's strange - we coordinate with all the riders beforehand to canvas the riders' intentions. Our standard route is 60 km, from the shop, out to Kloofzicht in the cradle and back. With added loops or different routes we can ride a 5 hour monster or the 40km short ride you mention. If you still aren't getting any joy, speak directly to me tristanbergh@northcliffcycles.co.za or Alex, the shop owner. He can be reached at 011 476 2110. Regards Tristan Ride coordinator, Northcliff cycles.

  12. hi a fellow rider lent me his multitool to fix a loose saddle, just before the jeep-track climb. he asked me to return it at the halfway point, but i couldn't find him. if you lent me your multitool, please contact me - i'd like to return it. thanks!
  13. oh, and thanks for the great photos, amateur! you're helping it grow! Timekeepers were Ruan and (F)lloyd from Northcliff Cycles... Hotspots and last lap were signalled with the N'cliff Cycles "arooooogaaa" horn!
  14. hey - i came to chat!!!!!! damn, that was really fun! c'mon guys, there's some really good cornering practise at least, at best you get some great traffic-free speed training. Kudos to Alex for organising it - it took months and lots of effort to get the lease agreement with the Dome management. Alex said he started his racing this way, at Tuesday evening crits in Kempton Park. Some more South African champions on the way?
  15. hey, just to add to the kudos for Northcliff Cycles - great service, quick response times on any small jobs and a free bike wash after a ride from the shop while Alex still feels like it... they serviced my road bike and the brakes felt even better than when they were new. I'm also VERY happy with them.
