  1. I have a few Xiaomi products and am very happy with the quality so would have no qualms in getting one of these which seem like a good solution. Looks like you get a little motorised help with getting air through the filter https://www.gearbest.com/braces---supports/pp_3007240605214275.html Apparently a new improved design in the pipeline. Any solution to the problem of getting one to South Africa?
  2. Didn’t look at the prices, when I have time I will look more earnestly for similar available in SA Investing in kit to be used practically everyday for the foreseeable future will be a factor in my decision making
  3. This is great thanks
  4. Same concept, scuba the Covid Sea
  5. That's right! I probably misunderstood your explanation ! You don't have to draw the air through a filter again as it's already filtered, the NR valve just stops you blowing carbon dioxide back into the reservoir . I think if the mask is airtight when exhaling fresh air would be drawn into the mask from the reservoir because of the pressure difference. This is all getting too technical for me now, so if it can work and it doesn't exist , I will wait for a suitably qualified person to design one.
  6. No you have a reservoir of filtered air, say in a household vacuum bag, the rest yes. Things like surface area, positive air pressure etc that propeller heads know about.
  7. On my ride this morning doing my impression of a fish out of water I came up with an idea of what would work, and if an oxygen deprived dipshit like me could have thought of it, it must already exist. Need a mask that has two non return valves, one for exhalation and the other for inhaling from a reservoir of filtered air. Like a camelbak for air. So where can I buy one?
  8. Can you buy individual masks somewhere?
  9. Struggle to get enough oxygen into the buffalo lungs and feels like I have a lung full of cotton fibers afterwards, besides sucking half the buff into my mouth every breath!
  10. As per Topic what in your opinion is the best face mask currently available to use whilst riding? Please use other topics to discuss the merits of wearing a face mask, this one is solely for those who have decided to wear one . I have ordered from https://iamactive.co.za/ This from the pic looks like a snug fit. and https://emask.co.za/product/black-pollution-mask/. Like the idea of the exhalation valve, will hopefully make it easier to breathe! Caveat: emask website has no info on who the owners are and only contact detail is an email address so buyer beware I would have tried the Ciovita mask but their website is showing out of stock. I have used a buff as a mask but am looking for a better solution.
  11. Mountain biking is hard. Mountain biking with a mask is harder. But not Mountain biking at all is hardest. So let’s make peace with it. Think of it as learning a new skill!
  12. Boost adapter homemade with old disc mount and engineering help. Made the rookie mistake of not asking them to ream the disc mount spacer holes, so they still have thread. What do the experts reckon shall I leave the thread or DIY drill them out? Cost = R 120 + R 18 for bolts .
  13. Thanks been thinking I might try something like that get an engineer to cut the disc mount off an old hub and see if I can't source the spacers from an industrial supplier. Kits are available on ebay, amazon etc but then it's the wait for them to arrive. Was hoping there is something available locally! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Hub-Adapter-Thru-Axle-15mm-x-100mm-to-110mm-Boost-Fork-Conversion-Kit-D/253223700837?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20160323102634%26meid%3Df9878686f1b544b6995e7d4ef9bfe013%26pid%3D100623%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D251954078141%26itm%3D253223700837&_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1#shpCntId
  14. Just bought a boost fork now need an adapter from 100mm to 110mm for my giant tracker hub! Anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced one or have a diy solution? Seems silly to pay almost the price of a new hub for an adapter!!
